IMO this deserves to be a major plot in its own game. A future DA where you can choose your own race, because it would be a greater victory if your character is an elf.

I would love it if they did.
However, knowing BioWare, the elves won't even be part of one major quest. They'll just be a couple of side characters in secondary quests. Or, at the very most, only show up for 30 seconds in major quests with no names, no personal involvement, no character arc, and no significance beyond serving as one easily disposable plot device to get the protagonist fighting the Real Antagonists. (Like the "Elven Fanatics" of Blackpowder Courtesy and Demands of the Qun.)
And Elven companions will be pliable to the human protagonist by having no ambition beyond helping him/her with human problems. And any elven specific views or ambitions they might have will be presented as ignorant, dangerous, wrong, and something the protagonist can talk them out of doing. (Like Merrill's Eluvian.)
I'm onto you, BioWare.
Argh. This was not presented as wrong, it was possible to interpret it as wrong. It's equally possible to see it as being all good. Other characters may see it otherwise, but they're all wrong. And any elven specific views or ambitions they might have will be presented as ignorant, dangerous, wrong, and something the protagonist can talk them out of doing. (Like Merrill's Eluvian.)
They'd still find a way to screw it up. Werewolves, demonic temptation and mirrors, etc, take your pick.Travie wrote...
It stands to reason the elves would see an opportunity to take advantage of the mage/templar conflict...
