Sorry EDI, but absolute power corrupts absolutely, and turning everybody into cyborgs without their consent just seems icky.

I say kill them all, and let the survivors judge me as they will. If I sacrifice one species to save twenty more, then so be it.

Plus red is my favourite colour.

Actually, you saved zero. In fact, you sacrificed one to kill one.

It's terrible, isn't it? She wasn't even touched by the Reapers. Not indocrinated, not huskified. The mere presence of the Reapers turned her into a monster.

Terror is a horrible thing, I tell you.

Indeed. We see it in every single person who picks Destroy.

No, you really don't.

...meh. At least I got to blow something up.

Speaking of which, why wasn't the Cain a carriable weapon during the majority of the game? I would've loved to use that thing to pound Kai Leng's smug face in.

Well excuse me for expecting my war hero Shepard who has been in worse fights like the Skyllian Blitz for which he was awarded the Star of Terra to have better instincts than to stand around looking at things that are exploding when his only way to survive is right in front of him.

<SNIP>

Well...it is so easy to do...but no that was not my intent.  Alot of the cutscene nonsense in Mass Effect seems to be "for the sake of the plot".  Don't blast Kai Leng with something bigger than a Predator?  Sake of the plot.

Was the Skyllian Blitz worst then standing in a ship with a huge beam weapon slicing it in half?  Even if it was, so what?   Ever hear of the 'OODA' loop?  It stands for 'Observe, Orient, Decide, Act', and is basically the decision making cycle.  What you may call 'standing around' others call, 'observe, Orient'.  Before you can decide on a course of action, you need to know what is going on and what your options are.  Unlike YOU, Shep isn't sitting in his (ostensibly) comfie chair with favorite snacks and drinks at arms reach and all the time in the world to make a decision, while viewing everything from a 180 degree isometric view.  Instead, he's there, feeling the force waves of explosions he can't hear (no sound in a vacuum), off balance (lack of gravity will do that to you) in a ship that's dying, possibly blinded by flashing lights and with a field of view of mybe 70 degrees.  So, yeah.  He's going to assess the situation.  That's what trained people with experience do.  YOU know that his only way out is the pod in front of him, because YOU have metagame knowledge.  HE still has to observe and orient himself to what is going on.

Second quoted paragraph I kept in as a 'QFT'.  Sometimes I think people forget this is a Bioware game, which means 'interactive movie' at times.

People keep talking about tossing a grenade at Leng.  In an elevator shaft.  Lessee.  A high explosive charge in a narrow vertical corridor while standing atop a frail metal box supported by cables.  Yeahhhhh.  How could that POSSIBLY go wrong?

Shepard: "Dammit!  Leng's on the elevator!  Wait, I'll toss a 'nade!"
<BOOOOOM>
Shepard:  "Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!  I can't hear!  Why am I falling!  Craaaaaaaa<splat>"

Why doesn't Garrus just put a round through Leng's head!?!  I mean, C'MON!  How hard can it POSSIBLY be to fire a a bullet into a 6 inch oval that's moving swiftly and erratically!  Why, ANYONE can do it!  There's a reason why actual snipers spend a lot of time getting into position, and fire from concealment.  Because small, swiftly and erratically moving targets are hard to hit.  Small, stationary targets, on the other hand....  Which is one complaint I have about most games; snipers are realy NOT treated well.  They're basically infantry men with slow rifles in games.  In real life, they are MUCH more.  Then again, IRL it'd be rare to see a sniper using his sniper rifle at less then a couple hundred yards so....<shrug>.

Deciding the fate of the whole universe based on the feelings of one man is obviously the right thing to do.

That said, Destroy is the choice of barbarians.

Yes, yes.  I go on sticking Geth heads on spikes and spit on them, all barbaric-like.  I then do a tribal dance around EDI's body, while Joker watches in terror, then I ask him, would you kindly dance with me?

I would think the souls of the millions of sentient toasters I killed would be more relevant than one traumatized pilot.

Still, nuked em.

If you listen carefully, the sound you hear in the breath scene isn't actually a breath, it's Shepard muttering the name of a Pagan god.

That Asari commando was broken by the very terror a Shepard who picks Destroy faces and rids the universe of forever.

Catalyst says we can't keep our own form. I say we can and we will, and the nightmare will end. For everyone.

Sorry to re-hash it, but if you ever return and see this, 'just wanted to say I was just thinking about this post today...

I know stories of some US military vets who've come back from the Middle East with PTSD and act up particularly when they see folks at home who are of Middle Eastern descent. The mere presence of those people sets them off, you know?

I can get why these vets fear, but they wouldn't get any right to act violently towards those people because of it. They just have to deal with their ish, and such is life. Likewise, if people post-war are disturbed about the presence of the former enemy in a Sync world, well, it'll just be like every other war in the history of wars to have that problem to deal with.

BTW, the sensationalism in that video was so OTT I literally lol'd throughout. Vids like those make me root for Harbinger.
