So, people should pick Synthesis or Control because one guy decided to romance a machine chick?

Nah mang people should pick Synthesis or Control because the Geth and EDI are worth more than all those filthy organic races put together!

Sorry to re-hash it, but if you ever return and see this, 'just wanted to say I was just thinking about this post today...

I know stories of some US military vets who've come back from the Middle East with PTSD and act up particularly when they see folks at home who are of Middle Eastern descent. The mere presence of those people sets them off, you know?

I can get why these vets fear, but they wouldn't get any right to act violently towards those people because of it. They just have to deal with their ish, and such is life. Likewise, if people post-war are disturbed about the presence of the former enemy in a Sync world, well, it'll just be like every other war in the history of wars to have that problem to deal with.

BTW, the sensationalism in that video was so OTT I literally lol'd throughout. Vids like those make me root for Harbinger.

Most of those people won't have had anything to do with the reason why those veterans are afraid of them while all Reapers took part in what makes people fear them. Also, humans don't have subtle mind control abilities just because they are from the Middle East. Paranoia against people from the Middle East is not justified and a problem. Paranoia against the reapers is justified and even rational.

The Reapers can't be compared to any human race or nation. There's no Reaperland where Reaper families that never wanted to harm anyone live a peaceful life with their Reaper children. There are no reaper civillians or Reaper innocents. That's the crucial difference.

All of those scenes happened the way they did in the game just to let Leng get away with his dastardly deeds.  That is, for the sake of the plot.

"Because plot" goes both ways though. The plot could have had Leng drop in on the councillor with 5 Phantoms instead of by himself just as easily. Or 10. (In fact, I wish they would have - it would have made Thane's last fight even more badass.) Same on Thessia - it didn't have to be just Leng + Gunship, he could have had turrets pop up around the perimeter with 360 degree coverage of Shepard's squad too.

The point being - those weren't the moments to kill Leng. They could have blown the animation budget with an epic 6-ninja battle, or they could have had Leng cheat a little and use the resources elsewhere, say on more LI-dialogue, or on adding to missions like Tuchanka and Rannoch. I know which would be more important to the fans in the long run.

What if one of these veterans was convinced otherwise? Afterall, he's dealt with these people extensively, perhaps more than you and I and could claim to know them better. And, in his experience, he may just believe that all/most/a significant number of them are people who plot against non-Middle Easterners and have radical religious motives.

If he thinks that and has some personal experiences behind him, why isn't his paranoia justified?

No, but there's no such thing as a perfect analogy anyway.

For that matter, we've never gotten a chance to know what the Reaper -- free of catalyst control -- wants at all.

Hence this old thread of mine. We know of one civilization that was OK with existing as a collective within a ship.

Indeed. We see it in every single person who picks Destroy.

That Asari commando was broken by the very terror a Shepard who picks Destroy faces and rids the universe of forever.

Catalyst says we can't keep our own form. I say we can and we will, and the nightmare will end. For everyone.

As the dream of the Godhead in the Elder Scrolls franchise, some nightmares would have consequences far too dire to ethically end.

Wait, what? Are you on something too? When did .. why ... huh?!

Guys, this image in my head. It's not going away.

Oh COME ON!  There'd be no 'porpoise' in them killing the geth!  Why, a dolphin killing a geth would be a fluke anyways.

Poor Joker.... got my Shep killed at the start of ME2. Never said, "hey, sorry Commander for not evacuating when you gave the order and you know, causing you to die and all that stuff. Nice to have you back. Lucky thing Miranda was there, right?"

Did he say that during ME2? No. Did he come visit during lockup and say that? No. Did he say that during the reaper war? No. That bos'htet never apologized.

Why should I care if he cries over his sexbot?

Remember kids synthetics are much better than organics, killing them is monstrous, killing Reapers is monstrous.

Please report to the nearest goo tube for ascension.

Have a happy day cycle.

It'd be more like accidentally tripping someone over and saying, "Oops, that was my fault."

Deciding the fate of the whole universe based on the feelings of one man is obviously the right thing to do.

That said, Destroy is the choice of barbarians.

Yes, yes.  I go on sticking Geth heads on spikes and spit on them, all barbaric-like.  I then do a tribal dance around EDI's body, while Joker watches in terror, then I ask him, would you kindly dance with me?

I would actually do this if it was an option.

Not on purpose. And I apologized after ...

(Really, that was about acknowledging a mistake = apology.)
