....Like I said, someone's been reading David Icke a leeeeeeeetle bit too much.

You blind fool! You'll see the light when our vampire president, Barackula, sneaks into your house and drains the blood from your children! Before turning into a tiger and taking a bath.

Ha.  I've been following this supernatural-shapeshifting-alien-vampire-illuminati-Matrix-conspiracy nonsense as a personal hobby for well over a decade now.  If there were any truth to it I'd have been sucked off the planet for anal probing years ago.

You know this is why Princess Diana was murdered, don't you? She tried to out the British royal family as the bloodsucking aliens they totally are.

So, if I have this right, the plot of Inquisition will have our characters and their team spinning clockwise around Thedas, thus generating positive energy in order to resurrect the Prophet Muhammad and escape the Matrix?

Nonono, you have to spin anti-clockwise.  Clockwise creates dark energy!  Pay attention before you do exactly what Dark Lord One Eye wants!

Har. I can't tell if Qistina's trolling or believes their own drivel, here. I've run across plenty of people who spout the same kind of nonsense, and even crazier, and believe every word of it.

Hahahaha.

It takes more than some spinning to rouse old one-eye.

Not if you're Australian you don't.
Or maybe all this Dark Energy is the reason why they live in the future. That would explain it :wizard:

That is why I have always maintained that such rituals are best done off-planet. Less witnesses too...

Ah.  So....you don't believe in all this stuff about aliens and vampires and dark energy and magical orbs...you just accept its existence.

So long as that clears things up.

cheaper? hmm... i don't agree.
however "YEARS" of training for militia men (cannon fodder)? doubt that.

And you'd be wrong.  Archery and sword fighting require a FAR greater investment of time to develop proficiency.  Guns take a matter of weeks.

You can learn the basics of how to fight with a sword in a matter of weeks
You can learn the basics of how to shoot a gun in a matter of weeks

To become a GOOD shot or a GOOD swordsman you need years of practice.

I'm a target shooter myself and I always laugh at people who say being a good shot is easy and can be learned in a couple of days/week. The funny thing is that those people never shot a gun in their lives and don't know what the hell they're talking about.

It takes weeks for most people to learn the proper breathing techniques, shooting stance, sight picture and especially to combat flinch. If you have mastered those things you have to learn to read the wind, how to adjust your optical and iron sights, how to shoot from sitting, leaning, standing supported, standing unsupported, prone position, how to maintain your gun, how to reload under stress, you have to learn the trajectory of the caliber using out to 500yds-800yds and how a hot barrel affects accuracy etc. etc.

I've done both and there really is no comparison.

First off, it doesn't take everyone weeks to gain minimal proficiency with those things.  I joined the air rifle team in my NJROTC late in the year and only had about three hours of practice and a couple nights of book study before our first match, having never shot anything in my life previously.  I shot in the top third of the 200-odd cadets who participated.  It's not hard to shoot fairly well.  All that training is to go from shooting decently to shooting great, and a deent shot can still be very dangerous.  I've also trained for a few years at Japanese swordsmanship.   I was a far better shot after three hours of training than I am a swordsman after about 2.5 years of training.

Secondly, none of this has anything to do with the military use of early smoothbore guns, so why even bring it up?

Trust me, hitting a stationary target is way easier than hitting a moving target. Now add the stress of a combat situation and being a decent shot simply won't cut it.

But as you say, the very earliest of guns, was used in mass (usually very stationary) formations, making it rather easy to shoot in the actual direction of the enemy and hit, without great aim.

Exactly.  A man can run and dodge, but a large formation of enemies presents a stationary target even while running, since there will always be a man in your sights even if the troops are running past.

Put 300 people with two weeks' training with muskets up against 100 experts with muskets, and my money's on the 300.  Put 300 people with two weeks' training with swords up against 100 experts with swords, and the newbies wouldn't stand a chance.
