It has some of the best interior designs I've ever seen. Certainly better than anything in the Dragon Age games. Infact, I can't think of anything that Dragon Age does better than Skyrim in terms of graphics and art.

Ah...the landscape ... and then what? Is not the graphics that makes it magically become a good game, especially in a rpg.

Apparently you missed this:

Yes, Bioware has proven time and again they are masters at level design and have nothing to learn from anyone else.

As far as I can see non open world games should be able to do better landscapes.  Since they don't have to worry about players visiting them, and they can specifically set up nice vistas

(DA2 had some pretty nice looking views IIRC.  Certainly that was one area that I felt they improved a bunch on DA:O, where they were sometimes really bad)

Agreed. If you only have a dozen locations (as opposed to hundreds), shouldn't those twelve locations be mind-blowingly beautiful?

Instead, Kirkwall was a rather drab beige in 90% of the screens.

Haha I love seeing you guys post! It's the greatest. I can't really say anything I haven't said before. But I'm just redoing the thieves guild quest lines. Sometimes I feel like a nut, and sometimes...they get stabbed in the face! ( My sneak isn't leveled, playing on master and don't wanna skew dem' der bots! )

But ugh yea, BW dood make your DA games prettier. The whole of your game is like the size of one underground keep in this one! Polish the turd pleeeezz ( referring to DA2 ofcourse :D )

With regards to the hypothetical, NAY yet probably impossible hybrid freak I'm thinking of here.... I can safely say Id go down a very dark path to be able to play this.

If you play it in 640x480 it almost looks like a PS2 game.

But I'm just redoing the thieves guild quest liness.

Oblivion:

-Learn about the Grey Fox/thieves guild, either by reading one of the many "Wanted" posters around the city and persuading information out of someone (using the game's persuasion system) OR by getting arrested (using the game's crime/punishment system).
-Meet the Thieves Guild doyen at the designated location at the designated time.
-Find the diary before your competitors. You can either ask a beggar for help (using the persuasion system again) or follow the more confident of your two competitors (if you are fast enough). Once you find it, acquire it - either through stealth, magic, or violence.
-If you miss your chance, you can still intercept your competitor on her way back and steal the diary using the game's pickpocketing system.
-If you fail that, the doyen will give you another chance - this time without competitors, to steal a sword from a blacksmith.
-Break into the blacksmith's room, either while she is asleep or while she is manning her store (using the game's schedule system)
-Get past her guard dog via stealth, magic, or violence.
-Unlock her chest with magic, the game's lockpicking system, or pickpocketing the blacksmith's key, acquire the sword, and escape.

Skyrim:

-A Thieve's Guild member approaches you and asks for help with a scheme.
-Use the stealth system to get into a hidden position, use magic/the lockpicking system on the jeweler's box.
-Use the stealth system again to get into a hidden position, use the pickpocketing system on the salesman before time runs out (you have a long time).
-No matter the outcome, you are accepted into the Thieves Guild.

And people wonder I think this game is dumbed down.

The guild quests were still awesome, hence I role play lol. It was a lot harder for me to find the dark brotherhood, they were always my favorite ( I don't use wiki on my first playthroughs ). I played morrowind on PC when I was a kid ( for like six months straight! ) and same with oblivion. The format was different yea, but I love all of them! Also consider the thieves guild is all but completely broke and completely cornered this time around.

By the way, Skyrim has over 14 million copies sold worldwide. Considering the budgets for games these days, is it a wonder that Bioware look at Skyrim?

You can't have a high budget AAA game that only appeal to a small niche crowd and expect it to make a large profit. Either lower your expectations from a graphical view, or accept that if you want to play super duper good looking top notch voiced acted games, it's going to take time and it needs to be financially successful.

Sure, the recruitment quest in Oblivion was more involved... but the main quest was quite detailed. The Nightengale aspect of the guild in Skyrim was much cooler than "the magic mask that makes everyone forget they just saw you put it on right in front of them."

I seriously doubt they are looking at Skyrim. They are just name dropping popular titles to garner attention for their games. They did the same thing with ME2, citing popular shooters.

Yeah it was a lot more detailed, almost everything in skyrim was better written. I like Skyrim I just feel like its rigid storylines often worked against the actual gameplay mechanics.

Considering that they're in the dog house they might actually go through with it, not holding my breath though (and I'm certainly not gonna pre-order).

I think it's pretty comical when people cite the commercial success of Skyrim as a reason for Bioware to make games more like theirs, but complain when Bioware cites the commercial success of CDO as a reason to make games more like that.

Well, GOW helped ME2. Skyrim could help DA, if they would look at it.

Ok, I love TES. I have been playing Morrowind since it came out, it is one of the only games that is always installed on my PC. However, I was not a huge fan of Oblivion and while I did put 200 hours into Skyrim, it eventually became very boring to me. Amazing visuals can only keep me "wowwing" for so long. The rest feels lonely.

I think part of it is that there were always mods to download for Morrowind to keep my interest, whereas with Skyrim, the mods have been in short supply. Therein lies the problem. I find that with the TES series, Bethesda really relies on the modding community to not only fix their games but also to keep them interesting.

Dragon Age on the other hand never bores me. Most likely because of the incredible character development and interaction. I have played through both DA games at least 9 times and have still not experienced all of the companion dialogue and interaction.

So I guess for me, characterization trumps an empty, beautiful world.

I am willing to admit that the world of Skyrim is far more beautiful than Dragon Age.

Edit:  One more thing, I said I played Skyrim for 200 hours:  that was on PS3, then the game became unplayable with no fix in sight, so I bought it for my PC and then played for only about 50 hours.

I desperately want BioWare to stop supporting 640*480.  They already did it once - 10 years ago - and they should do it again.

Because even low-end phones have a higher resolution these days.

IMO BW should stay far away from Bethesda games. I really think Bethesda makes crappy games. Fallout 3 was trash Oblivion was freaking garbage and Skyim was dumpster food. Their storylines were poor their characters were just terribly plain and their combat was pathetic. I would rather have DA2 button mashing wave combat than TES crap.

Personally I care more about the characters and the story instead having an open world.
