How should one build the dog?

I'm pretty sure I want to use Dog in my party. Playing Nightmare on the PC version, Human Blood Mage, Morrigan, and hopefully some combination of Dog, Sten and Shale.

I don't really believe in balanced builds in games like these, especially with a character who IS their stats like Dog, but I'm having problems since Dragon Age isn't as explicit as say Baldur's Gate in terms of what exactly things do/how DCs are calculated. So I'm confused between three options I see for Dog:

All Strength: tear things up
All Dexterity: Accurate but weak attacks, great dodging for melee tanking. I heard this affects the DCs of Charge and Dread Howl, confirmation?
All Constitution: Eat spells(friendly and enemy), feed my Blood Mage. This looks interesting since Shale is the only other nonhuman character with simplified equipment, but she has no blood, meaning only Dog could do this role.

I mainly want feedback on the viability of a heavy Con build/it's utility to a Blood Mage, and some confirmation on how Dex affects his abilities. Experiences with an all Str Dog on Nightmare would be nice as well if anyone has done that.

--Edit--
Just realized there's a separate board for builds. Can this get moved?

I've never tried all dexterity. He kills pretty fast with all strength. He's "balanced" as you would expect with str/dex split. Never tried all con. If you want to feed your blood mage, just blood sacrifice on anyone and cast heal; you don't need a high con target. Why does it matter that Dog is nonhuman?

My current playthrough with Dog in nightmare is all strength. He performs well is all I can say.
