People living in the past.

It used to be the best gun back when guns sucked. One shot one kill.

It ain't overhyped. In order to be good with the Claymore, you have to be very much in tune with your CDs, aiming, surroundings and enemy positions. You have to instinctively know what to do after strafing from soft cover to soft cover, landing a shot, reload cancel with a power, and kiting the two enemies flanking you. The Claymore makes you actively engaged in a wider range of game mechanics than with any other weapon. When you're on a roll, you feel like you are choreographing a symphony of destruction, and it's satisfying when that happens. And when you don't do well with it, it gives you the opportunity to recognize why you sucked. That by definition is a well designed gun. A badly designed gun is one that becomes a crutch, ie Reegar, which is basically "lol missed some shots who cares just give me my creds btw im14"

For killing bosses... yes... for killing mooks, no. Claymore does both very well.

The main thing I love about the Claymore is the limited exposure time... you pop out, blast something, then retreat while reload cancelling, or move forward toward the next target. Really helps on the GI with 3 points in fitness and no Cyclonic...

can always slap a phasic round on dat bad bi*ch... = one shot mook'ums

So, I use the ClayMOAR on Drellguard to be hipster in Gold Pugs (look at the statistics thread if you want to know why hipster).

But aside from that I really really prefer the Wraith. Especially on Drelldept it's pure awesomesauce.

Aye! Hear hear!

"Dextro tech"?  Not really.  Quarians reverse-engineered both the Reegar and the Arc Pistol from Cerberus' Arc Projector in ME2.

It's over hyped because we see in just about ever build discussion of any class in the game a few posts talking about just slapping the claymore on that class and wrecking everything. As for the Reegar, one of it's main draw backs that being ammo capacity is something you really do have to deal with where as the claymores supposed big draw back for a heavy gun that hits like a mule is negated by clever use of mechanics.

In the end it comes down to players style as well. Like one of the posters above I use the Pirhana more than other shotguns. I use the Claymore the odd time. The one gun that mystifies me is the Wraith, some games I use it with great effect, other games I can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Beerfish yesterday:

As I said I'm a biotic snob because the Claymore in particular is a bugged weapon that is so powerful with relaod cancel that it's the best weapon on any class in the game at any time for a lot of people.

Is the Claymore asari more effective than the low cool down asari? Yup, for sure, same as every single class in the whole game. If someone was using a light weight shotty that still packs a punch like Wraith I'd have less of a problem with it. What is making your build good is the weapon, it has little to do with the class itself.

Use the claymore on any class at all and one can 'justify' why it is so good.

All hail the mighty Lord Claymore! The most OP and bugged weapon in the game ...

Beerfish wrote...

The last statement you made is 100% correct. The claymore is a 'rare' shotgun, not ultra rare. It puts out massive damage with the supposide drawback being a small mag and slow reload. Releoad cancelling makes it totally over powered.

I think everyone who swears by the claymore, should have this sticker on their claymore.

It kills small things in one BOOM. That is why it used to be overhyped.

But yes, the shieldgate nerf and phasic ammo introduction means sniper rifle can achieve similar results and so claymore is not overhyped anymore.

It is still a much beloved classic.

not to forget a properly specced wraith and raider can do the very same thing. w/o phasic.

Personally, I like the Crusader better, quite a lot better, because it has range and natural piercing.

I should have 2 and a rainbow and a heart sticker. Because I use the Claymore in other games too.
They really should let us customize our guns in ME4.

Reload Cancel.

It is my guess that it would be much less popular if reload cancel was not possible.

If we're talking about great shotguns... I'd be talking about Reegar, Claymore and Venom personally...

I also would take the Claymore over the wraith any day of the week... My lightweight shotty of choice is the Pirahna, I absolutely love that gun.  It replaces the Venom for me in that top 3 you listed. The Venom still gets some love from me, but it is more of a novelty fun type love instead of an efficiency love type thing.

Somebody is so bored... might just be Newcular...

Claymore is misunderstood, barely used, and yes it is better than the Wraith. I love the Wraith; my BatSol never leaves the shuttle without it. That said, Claymore.

Also, this thread begs for more Bacon. And where is Void Nexus?
