You are after all pissed off with the current product and rightly so. So why blindly just give Bioware more money, without knowing that if they'll pull the same stunt again? Hype, hype ....get you invested, then take the character that you have played for 5 over years and turned him/her into a total stranger?
Don't Pre-Order.
Don't buy on day one.
Wait for peer, that is, people who actually played the game from begining to end and aren't retricted from saying anything bad about a game when they are reviewing any said game.
DO NOT FULLY TRUST anything you read from "gaming sites" whose revenue comes from the advertising / creating PR hype for these games.
That is not to say don't buy the game. Would waiting a week or so be too much?
Afraid of being spoiled? If so, then if this time around you find that the game sold wasn't "as advertised" isn't it your fault for buying a game blind, if from track record, it is already establised that EA/Bioware tend to mislead their fans and customers with less then honest PR hype and advertisments and aren't even appologetic for doing so?
Just Don't pre-order.
Don't buy on day one.

I will pick up ME4 but when it is $15 or less. It might be awhile (a year or so) before I play ME4 but by then the game will be patched, its Ending will be fixed, all cut-content-repackaged-as-day-1-dlc and other dlc will be released, and there will be mods available so i will get a fully-functional game for a much cheaper price.
Foolproof I say!

What lesson would those lost sales teach, anyway? Don't make endings that people hate? Hard to operationalize that.
Don't switch your formula at the end of a game would probably be it. It's not very hard to operationalize like that.

Glad you enjoyed the "epic" ending. I just ended up killing the ship's computer and getting buried in a pile of rubble and taking a gasp of air, but hey I blew up the galaxy.
All the endings were virtually identical except for the color of explosions on your screen -- you died, the mass relays were destroyed, and the Normandy crashed.
I don't think you understood what the entire series was about.
The series wasn't about the mass relays.
The series wasn't about the Normandy.
The series was about the Reapers.

If there was anything I got out of the Ending controversy, ME meant something different for each person.
For me the series was about Shepard and the ME universe and its characters.
The Reapers? I stopped being scared of those glorified Borg-wannabe cuttlefish the moment Sov died.

That's the problem: people are interpreting something that isn't THEIRS how they want to, instead of how the authors interpreted or rather created it.

I'm not sure I agree--but even if I did, that's exactly what was accomplished in the game--regardless of some space ship and the magic relays.

Then what? If Bioware ever does this again, what are you going to do? Make more unoriginal threads?Creature0fHabit wrote...

As long as everyone agrees on what the formula is in the first place, sure. What was the ME formula, again? You want to use dreamgazer's?

I think I'll rent first from now on. Darksiders 2's ending just...I looked at it and said out loud "Wait...that's it?"
I spent a great deal of ME3 trying to justify the $80+ I had just dropped.

Let me get this straight.
You've feel that you need to 'justify' 80 bucks you spent on ME 3. So you've spent over a year on the BSN. You don't see any problem with that?

bioware didnt have to change any of it, they could of told you "this is our story and were sticking to it" but they decided you guys were right and re-wrote parts of it without compromising the original idea they had too badly.

Would you spend a year on a forum complaining if you got a traffic ticket?
A traffic ticket is the drivers fault, he can only complain to himself.
