I like the name Theovon, too. It'd work well for anyone.
As for the dog, I'd usually settle for something like Baron, Garth, or Champ.

Doesn't fit the universe. How many npcs did you meet in dragon age with common names from the real world?

In this context, you could argue that Frank or Jim is the most unique of them all.
"Hale, Warden. I am Theronimus, of Orlais. It's a pleasure to meet one such as you in these parts! Might I know your name?"
"It's Bob. Call me Bob."
"Erm...I'm sorry, what?"

I was going to make a Shapeshifter utilising the Wolf Shapeshifting mod and call her Amaterasu, but the mod's not working properly last I heard.
(Also, as far as dog goes, thus far I've had Baskerville and Hercule...)

Insofar as normal names go, my current mage is named Frances. I imagined her having an Orlesian/French background before arriving at the Circle, but the vocals sound more like Posh Mage than anything else.

While browsing Wikipedia I found this...
"In Danish folklore, a valravn (Danish: raven of the slain) is a supernatural raven. The raven appears in traditional Danish folksongs, where they are described as originating from ravens who consume the bodies of the dead on the battlefield, as capable of turning into the form of a knight after consuming the heart of a child, and, alternately, as half-wolf and half-raven creatures."
So, I changed it a bit to make it less Danish.

I got tired of trying to come up with a cool name for my second playthrough so my first rogue's name was Tim (I was probably thinking of the mad hermit and his similarity to monty python). I screwed up that playthrough after 25hrs and restarted with another rogue......named Ted. I find them to be easy, pleasing names.
My 1st, Jagrond, I've used in mmo's (started with a trandoshan in swg, Jagrond Istin sounds sufficiently reptilian, right (should have been Isstin though =/)) and my 4th comes from Jaya Ballard, task mage from MTG.

As for the dog, I rotate through names from the A-Team. Hannibal, Baracus, and Murdock. (This is because ever since I left for college, I intended to get a dog and name him Murdock. However I didn't want to have a dog cooped up in a small apartment so I've been holding off until we can buy a house. My virtual dogs will have to keep the dream alive!)
