(Origin)
Hi.
When playing with friends for whom the normal connection has little lag, sometimes we get "Connecting..." screen hanging and have to alt+F4 to restart the game.  This happens with both public and private lobbies of friends.
Apart from host swapping, "joining" a lobby seems to work more reliably than "inviting" each other.
I typed 'seems', as I'd appreciate knowing if anyone else has similar experiences?
(tl;dr) Does 'joining' result in less connections hanging than 'inviting'?
Or, am I just imagining?
Thanks!:)

Hanging on this screen, after choosing your character:

(If this isn't just my imagination, I'll go to the EA Answer HQ and ask them.)

I don't know why this happens but it's one of the most annoying things in this game.
It seems that eome people just can't connect no mater who is the host though it might help if someone else hosts and invites you both.
I have some 15 people on my friends list and I can connect with just one. That s****.

Actually the "invite" is just a text message, and as such has nothing to do with the success of connecting to someone.

tho its only 5 or so people from my FL. We cannot connect directly under any circumstances but it usually is ok when a third party hosts and invites us both.

thats Orifail for you.

Yes, that is not new though. When your friends are playing games with open slots, you can join them via the friend list, invite or no.

Only chance to avoid that is to log in invisible, but I heard that can be unreliable. Wouldn´t surprise me either, Orifail and all...

@OP:

You meant "Playing vs rEApers" :P

But yeah..it sucks..especially that message "waiting for other players..." with only one option "cancel" :pinched:

You are right.
Yet, sending someone that text message seems to prevent them from entering a lobby that they would be able to enter through clicking join when there is no invite, or am I paranoid?  As if they are trying to join the game twice and so it hangs.

A couple of occasions, nothing has worked; not reboots; not host swapping; not joining without an invite; joining in different order. Yet the day before we all played together and swapped lobbies around too, and had no problem.

In my experience it's completely random. I always get stuck in the "joining game ..." screen when crap like this happens. If Origin is having a bad day it usually takes more time to get everyone in the same lobby than playing a game or two :(

I had such issues back then when I didn't forward the 3 known ports. (3659, 5659, 6000)
