Can you still import gear into Awakening if Alistaire is equipped with them, and you make him king or if he sacrifices himself?

My advice would be to load the post coronation/celebration save and check your inventory. If the items are there then you should be good, although check the dragon age wiki because I think some items don't actually transfer over even they were on your Warden.
