Didn't know he got banned, coming from you I would believe it since you worshiped the guy.
If it's true it is kind of sad since me and Ashen tried our hardest to out do their scores on Xbox for the tournament while talking to him through messages comparing strategies and such.
He definitely knew everything about the game and had skill in that aspect but I never got the chance to play with him unfortunately.

I didn't "worship" him. You should talk to stardusk and deerber if you want hero worship. I merely thought he was a good player.

I was willing to defend him when people accused him of cheating in the past; particularly when they had no evidence he was a cheater.

Then, when he started uploading videos, was when alarm bells started ringing; I knew I wouldn't be able to convince anyone, so I kept quiet. The javelin video, where he was headshotting targets without even scoping in (so basically completely ignoring the hipfire accuracy penalty), the saber video and its obvious aimbot target cycling.

Then one day we played left for dead versus mode. There were several occasions where he headshotted me through walls / fences when I was playing a hunter.... So, he was precision headshotting me without having line of sight, or any sound to determine my location. I've met enough aimbotters in 10+ years of playing UT to know exactly what was up.

Two weeks later, a VAC ban appeared against his steam account.

So, I removed his entries from my thread, and still, said nothing but to a few select people not blinded by their lack of real shooter experience or zealous idolatry.

Only when Airquotes asked why Jay's solos were removed did I give my reasons... and what was most bizarre, was so many people, despite having lots of evidence to the contrary, still claimed he was legit.

The problem is, you won't see a single professional FPS player shoot at that speed with that accuracy; particularly with a weapon which has recoil (recoil which is mitigated instantly in the fencing video).

Read through this thread and people have given plenty of reasons why the video is aimbotted, and the only people claiming otherwise or undecided are people who have 0 experience playing shooters... besides PvE mass effect anyway.

I uploaded Fencing with cerberus to mediafire, because redjohn didn't believe me that he aimbotted. Redjohn believes me now.

Redjohn recently showed the video to stentron, who messaged me, saying the video "looked hacky".



I'm not one to witch hunt, I'm not the boy who cried wolf. I waited a long time, until Jay had dug himself a large enough hole, yet still people due to lack of PVP shoter experience, and most likely never seeing an aimbotter before continued to defend him.

It's very hard not to look like a fool, when you're claiming someone who made aimbotted videos, who's been banned for cheating is a legit player.

It really doesn't take much shooter experience at all to recognise what is clearly inhuman mouse movement. All it takes is a functioning set of eyes that are paying attention to the WAY the cursor is moving rather than admiring the pretty headshots.

Calling it a  'cesspool of bickering, trash-talk addicted sensationists' is pretty ridiculous. There has been very little trash talk going on, and really not even all that much arguing at all. Just a bunch of people weighing in with their opinions on whether the video has aimbot in it.

Direct argument is pretty much confined to Annomander and Deerber, which hasn't really devolved into a lot of name calling and is basically just one guy saying,

"This is how it is, this is why, and you should totally agree with me because I'm not a liar,"

And the other guy saying "I don't think you're lying, I just think you're mistaken, also LALALALA NOT LISTENING."


If that's your idea of 'tearing at each other's throats' then I suggest you stay away from... just about anywhere else on the entirety of the internet, because it's sure to offend you so much it might physically do you harm.

I needed the information in this thread.
I have no idea what an aimbot is, but playing shooters eventually we end up meeting them.
At PVE games it might not hamper much but, I'm going to presume that there are people here in the same position such as me. That being this is their first multiplayer shooter and they may be interested in playing other shooters now like TF2 or something PVP related, where aimbots are a regular form of cheating.

It's better I learn what to look for now than when I'm somewhere in a PVP enviroment figuring out why someone keeps headshotting me from the other side of the map with a pistol.

Better I get this information now than later. 

The naming and shaming though? Well yeah Jay deleted the vid so I'm against posting it again, just because it is his property. If he cheated then he cheated, if he didn't then he didn't. Bringing teh issue back from the grave was bad form, but the information I've gotten from this thread has been good.

Also I think the only reason this ain't locked is because the OP does not say who the player is nor have the vid anymore. Though the page 2-3 gif spam should have gotten this a lock a long while ago.

No one cares whether you think the thread is useful or not. A lot of people posted in it so obviously people are interested in the discussion, and furthermore 95% of the discussion has been fairly civil so I'm really not sure what you're on about. The fact is Hoxtatron was a prominent member of the community at one time and his legacy lives on. Whether he was cheating or not kind of matters to the dedicated player base. Doesn't concern you? Fine. Don't read then.

We may have had our share of disagreements in the past, but you post some pretty well thought out stuff, I must say.
