My character is an elf mage and I have Alistair, Morrigan and Leliana in my team. Which builds would you suggest me for my mage and Morrigan? (I'd like to spec my first mage as a dps with some cc and healing spells and Morrigan as a cc mage with some healing and dps  spells.

I take it Alistair is a S&S tank and Leliana is an archer?

You can't really go too wrong with the Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage specialisations, but they're not always that fun and might not fit into the party you're trying to play.

If you want some healing abilities, I'd say get the Heal skill, then get the Spirit Healer specialisation and get Group Heal. The Heal spell allows you to top off any party member, and the Group Heal lets you do that if Heal is recharging or if you need (obviously) to heal more than one at once. If you want to get more healing skills, you can go further in the skilltree, but that's up to you. Spirit Healer will, of course, take up a specialisation point, so be wary in case you want something from another one.

I'm not particularly good at discussing strategy, so if anyone refutes what I've said, you should probably listen to them. Wish I could be more helpful.

yes, alistair is a S&S tank and Leliana is an archer. My mage now has fireball, chain lightning, virulent walking bomb, arcane bolt, heal and group heal, while Morrigan has waking nightmare, winter's grasp, heal, group heal, , drain life and forcefield (I used the respec mod because of shapeshifting)

For a two-mage party, personally, I'd say make Morrigan a healing ranged fighter (standing back with Leliana) with Heal, Rejuvenate, Group Heal, Revival; the whole Telekinetic line, especially Crushing Prison to immediately take out enemy mages from afar; and personally I like Mass Paralysis, Misdirection Hex, Sleep and Waking Nightmare for CC. Maybe Glyph of Paralysis for more protection for her and Leliana to add to Forcefield for enemies that specifically come after your range fighters because they suck.

And make your PC mage a DPS melee fighter (wading in with Alistair), with Heal (self only); the whole Arcane Warrior line; Arcane Bolt and Shield (you really need this for this spec); and any hard-hitting Primal Spells unlikely to catch your PC in the center of them (Shock, Fireball, Cone of Cold, Chain Lightning, Virulent Walking Bomb, Petrify). I usually save Glyphs for my support mages, but you can try it with point mages, too, it's really good for CC. Some of the spells can't be cast with weapons drawn, but really, Arcane Warrior is less about swordfighting and more about defense. With enough points in magic, your PC will be better dressed than Alistair.

Spell Wisp and Fire/Telekinetic Weapons are useful sustainables all around, I've found.

This is just my personal experience back when I had Morrigan and Wynne in my party at once (healer and DPS mage, and Morrigan was such a beast I led the group with her) and pretty all over the place, plenty of others will probably have more focused advice. Good luck!

When I first started playing DAO I would eliminate from the traveling party whichever NPCs had the same class my character was, making mine the only mage or rogue present, but now I seem to always bring an NPC of the same class along to complement my character's strengths with things they don't have. This is how I built my mage as a primal destroyer while Morrigan or Wynne focused on paralysis and healing, and that duo was easily the most powerful as such that I've had. A 3-mage party could possibly do without a tank given how many instant spell combos would be possible.

The thing to keep in mind is that you can end up alone at some point- namely in the Fade twice and maybe Fort Drakon, not to mention the fist part of the Tower origin and carrying on after DAO, so it's good to keep your own character equipped w some effective damaging spells. I had fairly exclusively healing spells on my mage when the rest of the party succumbed to the Dalish forest sleep demon- made for a miserable battle using nothing but her staff, lots of fleeing far across the forest, and far too many healing potions...

Now my character is a pure caster with all the fire and lightning spells, walking bomb and virulent walking bomb, mana clash, arcane bolt, heal, the first 3 glyphs blood wound, group heal and revival; morrigan is a cc whith heal, group heal, revival, crushing prison, all the cold spells, waking nightmare, curse of mortality and paralyze.

When the enemies are in a room I cast glyph of repulsion on the door and then the 3 aoe spells. I usually cast crushing prison, curse of mortality and walking bomb on the yellow and orange enemies and I cast blood wound when it' isn't on cd
