As for my "canon," I got on a tear with Dalish archers and left my other characters hanging to finish the game with 3 of them:
1. Aren: arranged for Alistair and Anora to marry, but then let Alistair duel Loghain. Took Morrigan up on her offer, even though he was romancing Zevran, so lived to rebuild the Grey Wardens with Zevran at his side and Alistair on the throne.
2. Sahra: arranged for Alistair and Anora to marry; picked Zevran to duel Loghain, but executed him anyway, and convinced her friend Alistair to perform Morrigan's ritual so she could live to rebuild the Grey Wardens with Zevran at her side, and Alistair could rule jointly with Anora.
3. Gendras: arranged for Alistair and Anora to marry, but then let Alistair duel Loghain. Declined Morrigan's offer and declined to convince Alistair to perform the ritual with her. Made the ultimate sacrifice for Ferelden when he struck the killing blow on the Archdemon, leaving his lover Zevran and his best friends Alistair and Leliana mourning his loss, and an obsessed golem on an anti-pigeon tear.
Shunted aside in all this Dalish archer obsession were a human mage romancing Alistair, who planned to jointly rebuild the Grey Wardens with him while Anora took the throne (probably won't finish that one) and a female human noble warrior who I plan to have romance Alistair and end up as his queen. I'll eventually finish that one, but after I finish the elven mage I just rolled. I have no idea how this playthrough's going to end!

1: Hardened Alistair rules with Anora.
2: My noble takes Morrigans deal and become the hero of Ferelden when he kills the archdemon.
3: In order to free the mages from the chantry´s oppression he sides with the mages collective.
4: Bhelen rules without Anvil, because the dwarves need to skip this whole "caste-thing".
5: My warden become commander of the wardens of Ferelden and begin rebuilding the order, ever watchful for Morrigan or their child. If she uses their child for something he does not approve of Morrigan will get beheaded and the kid get conscripted into the wardens

...makes Alistair king even though she knows they'll never marry that way (I skipped the "rule beside him" option, was out of character for her); then further twists the knife by convincing him to sleep with Morrigan for the ritual, in fear that if she/Riordan fail, Alistair will then finish the job and die. Stays in town to be his thing on the side.
Not sure about Chloe, my city elf rogue...I haven't gotten very far with her yet but I can't realistically see her making Alistair king. He was already hating her before I rerolled her so there definitely won't be that "tragic romance" thing, either, lol. She's more of a "might makes right" type so should be fun to see how that turns out.

Both of them are King Consorts, married to Anora. Alistair is either a drunken fool (Arthas) or dead (Arcturus). They also serve as Commander of the army and Commander of the Grey Wardens in Ferelden. Loghain is the Chief recruiter of Grey Wardens.
Both accepted Morrigan's ritual. And both loved her.
Arthas said he was going to look for her, while Arcturus said he is staying with Anora. (Not sure how this will impact the expansion).
But there is also my machiavellian Dwarven Noble, Thane, who put Alistair on the throne, while he rules the country as Chancellor, while possessing tremendous influence on Orzammar as a Paragon (Orzammar is ruled by his bro Bhelen).
There is my Libratarian mage, Salazar, who recreates a free Circle.
And there is my moiderate Mage, Alim, who sacrifieced himself. So I guess I will be playing the Orlesian Grey Warden.
But as I said, my favorites are the 2 HNs. I do not know with each I will start first.

Self-sacrifice - my "personal canon" ending. It will be interesting to see how the world reacts to the travails and choices of the Grey Warden who sacrificed her life to save Fereldan. I am also curious to find out how King Alistair's grief and mourning for his deceased love has affected his worldview.

I'm rather hoping that I'll be able to talk Alistair into rejoining the Grey Wardens in the expansion. Not holding my breath because he's probably gone entirely. This was probably the hardest Landsmeet choice I've ever had to make. Not my favorite ending because I really liked Alistair, but it just felt right for the dwarf noble. Really looking forward to seeing how it translates into the expansion.

My characters are:
1.) Lydia. human noble warrior. Hardened Alistair's personality, killed Loghain, accepted Morrigan's offer, and put Alistair on the thorne so Lydia could be Queen consort to him. Im for sure going to be contuining this one.
2.) Scarlett: Elf mage. Didn't harden Alistair's personality, killed Loghain, accepted Morrigan's offer, and put Anora on the throne so her and Alistair can be together.
3.) Temperance: Dalish elf rogue. Didn't harden Alistair's personality(at least I think I didn't), killed Loghain (I just can't allow that bastard to live), didn't accept Morrigan's offer, got Anora and Alistair to rule together and sacrificed herself.
Right now I'm working on two storyline a human noble rogue Eric which I plan to romance Morrigan, accept her offer, and make him king consort to Anora and a dawrf noble warrior named Serena. Have no idea how that's going to play out. Might sacrifice Alistair.

In the end, Allistair would not allow my to sacrifice myself to kill the Archdemon, and instead went and did it himself. My elf chick had the alienage declared a [Baron]ship and my sister put in charge to make things better for the elves, then went off alone in search of a new purpose. probably fought darkspawn for a while, etc. It's a good ending cinematically, although I loved Allistair (if you don't make your character do evil things, he's pretty funny most of the time)
Edit: if the expansion requires Allistair to be alive, and king, I'll have to abandon my character to avoid ruining her story.

I don't think the expansion will use a "default" ending -- or at least, I hope not -- unless you choose to play as an Orlesian Warden.

Female human noble, killed Loghain, took Morrigan's offer, married Alistair and became much loved by the people, while keeping Zevran as my lover on the side. I loved the dialogue options that opened up with this betrothal (which I didn't know could happen with 100 friendship with Alistair, 100 Love with Zevran) and this ending really appeals to my sense of humour.
Since the epilogue says that Zevran stayed with his beloved - for a time - if I take this character forward I guess she will end up being a real tart. What fun!

Raith was a chaotic/neutral human female rogue.
She did not romance Alistair, but 'harden' him. Went along with Anora to get her support during Landsmeet, and convinced her to let Alistair be king and to marry him. However, Raith duelled Loghan and had Alistair give the final blow (ultimately to keep Anora from becoming queen). Had Alistair do the 'love-child' thing with Morrigan so both wardens survive.
So, Alistair is king with Anora locked in the tower. Raith is warden commander, currently 'travelling' with Leliana (romanced) .
I figure this was a pretty decent ending for a Cousland noble. Loghran, among his other treacheries, supported the evils done to the Cousland name and family. No way he gets a second chance (for a dwarf or elf, this would be a different case). Although his daughter Anora comes around at the end, whatever her motives might have been, she was still tainted with Loghan's dealings under her watch as queen. Her final test, justifiably so, was to deal with the man who just killed her father. Since she refused Alistair in the end, her entire position became suspect, and prison was the best place for her.
Interestingly, the writers did not see fit to let Alistair have a choice in slaying Loghan or not, knowing full well he was to marry his daughter, and the repercussion this could have on Anora. It could have placed the final blow decision back in the hands of the PC, allowing him to marry Anora, regardless of Loghan's fate.

This game was very different from an earlier make loghain warden game. My character never spoke to loghain at any point or gave out gifts, Morrigans ritual was refused (that too could be evil), Loghain was informed of his role in the coming battle. At the Archdemon, he just knew what was to come as my warden agreed.
Listening to King Alistair afterwards reaffirmed that justice was carried out and that he wasnt angry, neither was my city elf. Everyone won, even loghain.
Loghain got his chance to serve the country.
Queen Anora could be proud of a fallen father.
Alistair/Warden got their justice.
This ending gave me an even greater respect for Loghain and some for Alistair.
I had always intended to kill Loghain at landsmeet in this game but that cutscene just changed my mind, beheading him infront of Anora his daughter after what Riordan had said. Nor did I feel it was right for Alistair, fine hes got the chance to kill *his* arch enemy but it wont bring Duncan back or reverse past crimes. Its not something to take pleasure in such is revenge involving death.

I may continue with this one, probably because I like that the Templar and the mage run away together. *sigh* (I know that technically Alistair isn't fully a Templar cause he didn't take his vows, but still)

The phrase is "Everyone is out for themselves, you should learn that." I believe.
The "Good" ending is Hardened Alistar and Anora marry.
I have to agree with this. I liked it that she was surprised when she talked to him and he took an interest in ruling. My female elf mage who fell for Zev and helped Alistair and Anora have a chance at happiness will be the one I carry over.

Is their any way to make Alistair take the killing blow on the Archdemon if not in a romance or accepted Morrigans ritual?
The Warden can let Alistair or Warden Loghain make the final sacrifice if the dark ritual wasn't performed. If romanced and brought along, Alistair will make the sacrifice, no matter what The Warden says or does.
