Sounds like even less RPG...

Kai Leng, seriously?
It can't be true that someone at BW considered that.

They should just do a full blown game on Shepard and Jack's adventure to go dancing, with many distractions on the way.

Brilliant idea if I mind add.

Too deep for me.

You got that right, buddy! ^_^

As a spinoff game, I would say that a possible route they might look into is to have the game divided into chapters, and each chapter covers a different characters story.

For example, you could start with garrus, have him than think about tali, transition to the next chapter of the game where you play as tali, and than have a transition that takes you to another characters story, so on and so forth.

Would help keep the game from feeling too stretched thin, and keep the story interesting.

That's a pretty good idea.  Having a story set post Shep's Death and you get to play as the various characters would be neat.  You could do almost a pulp fiction type game where the different character stories all connect in the last act of the game.

For sure It is better to play as Shepard than with a preset character, but BW does't know that.

I think they've already given enough evidence in the past that there is no way that they could do a Garrus game.

After all, Bioware made the choice to strip out all hacking and minigames in ME3. And are you telling me that they would make a Garrus-centric game with no minigames?

MISSION ONE: Clear out this Blue Sun gang at the old Omega fairground...

SIDE MISSION: 'Garrus! This skill-tester machine... It's not calibrated!' [two hour quick-time event initiates]

MISSION TWO: Investigate Aria's dealings with Cerberus...

SIDE-MISSION: 'Hm. This door is a little sticky when it slides open. Could do with a Calibration...' [quick-time event with several cut-scenes plays out, companions are shown to visibly age]

MISSION THREE: 'Garrus, seriously, we're your friends. We're worried that you have an obsessive compulsive problem.'

PAID DLC CONTENT: Finally, all of the answers that weren't explained in-game! Resolution to the emotional, narrative, and thematic problems left hanging by the nonsense conclusion slapped together for the retail copy. Prepare to find the answers in 'Recalibration', a six-hour Tower of Hanoi puzzle, filled with laughs and merriment! Sure it doesn't make sense, given the context, but just pay for it and be pandered to already!

Mac Walters.

Lead writer of Mass Effect 3.

The franchise is in safe hands.

I think all those ideas are terrible.

Clean slate Bioware. New characters, new story, new everything.

I think that is the route to go as well, unless this hypothetical spinoff is an entirely different game than the one that we've been referring to as ME4.

Then don't buy role playing computer games.

Oddly enough, there are people who, unlike you, enjoy role playing computer games. Might be nice if the few franchises that allow us to do that don't get watered down to be just like everything else that's being sold right now.

And ya know what?  I haven't.

Had ME2 been exactly like ME1... I would not have bought it.  I didn't even buy ME2 until several months after release and I was told that it was far different to ME1.

So... good advice.  Glad I've been following it.

Well as long as all games are tailored to your preference then that'll work out for everybody.

...Oh, wait.

Something new... Please something new. The mass effect universe as we know it is a dead end. Any event prior to the firing of the crucible just cannot have any narrative weight.

Wait what! Kai Leng? Mac Walters doesn't accept that pretty much everyone hates Kai Leng? Who is this guy, what is he smoking and what planet is he smoking it on?

As long as a game meets what I'm looking for... I'll buy it.

If it doesn't... I won't.

What you prefer is your business, not mine.

Funny how that works.

I'm glad they keep mentioning it, but I'll keep saying it just in case they're unsure:

MASS EFFECT NOIR! MASS EFFECT NOIR!
MASS EFFECT MASS EFFECT MASS EFFECT NOIR!

I don't mind a spin-off, but Garrus is boring as Hell. I hope they use a new character or someone that isn't a yes man. If there is one, then maybe they should do one on the aftermatch of ME3. I think it would provide closure to some of the loose ends in the game. I like the idea of Javik exploring the universe.

A Garrus spin-off game seems like the only possible spin-off that would feature a squaddie from the trilogy. He's the most logical character to carry his own game, though I don't think he was close to being one of the most interesting/complex characters in the trilogy.

Garrus is the most popular squaddie. But let's be honest, that's were it ends. He's neither interesting nor complex.

He's a pretty simple character: merc type, shoot first, think later, always deferring to your judgement, never having a strong opinion on anything, his only place in the ME universe is as Shepard's sidekick and he spouts oneliners.

Granted, Bioware protagonists (at least the ones I know) are pretty generic, too. Garrus could be a Purple!Hawke.

Maybe that would work for many people. Not for me, though.

I totally see them doing a spinnof of any kind before going on with the "true" Mass Effect.

A well defined character can be MORE immersive than a player-defined one though. When you know what the character is like, you can create much more connected dialogue. You can tell your voice actors "this is the feel we're looking for" or "this is the mood of the person you're addressing."

When it's player defined, you can't do those things. The interaction by its very nature is wooden and mechanical, because you can't allow yourself to assume how the "player character" feels about any given situation.

I agree with this notion wholeheartedly.

 A Kai Leng spinoff? Really?

I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that NO ONE likes that character.

I hated him as a character, meaning that I thought he was a very good character.

ugggghhhh, I'll tell you, if they're gonna go the Gears of War route with a side kick taking center stage and charge 60 bucks that's just dumb.

I love Garrus, Easily my favorite squad mate.Easily. But content with him or any other squadmate should have been an expansion in the original trilogy. Not.NOT a full fledged game. This just irks me hard. I guess if they go that route I might.MIGHT. Rent it. But I'll probably just youtube it.

However, a Garrus expansion with his escapades as Archangel on Omega sounds sweet. Maybe a 20 or 30 dollar expansion. Similar to what Rockstar did with Ballad of Gay Tony and Lost and The Damned for GTA 4, now something like that sounds cool. But not full priced. Come on BioWare, this sounds even lazier than normal for you. And that's saying something.
