Because people complain when they don't follow their ideas presented on the forums.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't

I couldn't care less if they follow my or anyone else's idea...what I hated about ME3 is the lazy and moneygrabbing ways of Bioware and the non canon ending.
I don't care if I get to have blue babies or not, hell in Bioshock infinite you die at the end, but because it is so beautifully done you accept it...with ME3 they drew a big middle finger at the end

****ing spoilers.

Garrus; the character that received very little character development taking center stage? Really?

Perfect

Watamaniuk expressed interest in making a more melee-focused entry in the series, while Walters said that the spinoff could focus on Aria, The Illusive Man or Kai Leng.

A spinoff about Kei Leng? That would be flippin sweet! I always wanted to play a game about being a cereal killer. :3

Well what we could do is massively plead and beg Bioware to make a ME game with Garrus"calibrate my gun" ...and when they release it ...we just don't buy it.
Then they will know how it feels to be lied to...

Save your spin offs, BW. Just use your money to make the next ME a friggin' powerhouse of game.

Succeed at that, and then we'll talk.

A reason Bioware may be batting this spinoff idea around is that the company painted itself into a corner with the endings to Mass Effect 3. How do you write a sequel, where the results of the three possible endings create totally different galaxies. In one ending the very nature of life has been altered.

I think one mistake Bioware made with the endings to Mass Effect 3 is in creating endings that had large variations in their impact on the galaxy. Instead they should have went for an ending where the results on the galaxy where the same (Reapers dead), but Shepard's choices resulted in different futures for his or her former squadmates and some different outcomes for various factions, that wouldn't be difficult to carry over into a sequel.

Not particularly impressed with any of those ideas on paper.

I agree.

At this point, really, I'm just kinda sitting back waiting to see if they have the creative testicular fortitude w/which to make a game in a post ME3 setting.

They painted themselves into a corner. I hope that they really are artists, and have the artistic ability to paint themselves right on out of that corner.

However, it is their game. Their story. They'll do whatever makes them giggle in the night. For me, though, a prequel type thing, or a "during the events of" type thing, would be extremely disappointing. I'd feel like they wimped out.

And any future spin off, or dlc I'd want to be connected in some way to the new ME game. Not going back to Garrus' C-Sec days. Or Kai Leng.<_< That story is over. Shep isn't the only one whose story died at the end of the triology. They wanted to stick a fork in it, and they did. I hope they're able to come to terms with that.

No Necro-game deving. Please.

Funny how Walters picked the worst Mass Effect characters.

A game with Conrad Verner would be better than a Aria, Illusive or Leng game.

I think the ending was a pretty clear attemp to torch the francise and run. Hudson stated in Final Hours that  "whatever we do would likely happen before or during the events of ME3, not after."

Hudson and Walters want to prevent their ending from being retconnned or handwaved for the sake of a sequel. I think they intend to focus thier efforts on Bioware's new IP while continuing to milk the ME cash cow by farming out narratively inconsequential ME-branded spinoffs, side stories, and pewpew shooters to Montreal.

Not enthusiastic, aside from maybe the "Garrus in C-Sec" idea.

Garrus or Javik post-ME3 means either canonizing an ending (big no-no in my book) or having to write around the ending somehow, which could easily lead to a lot of annoying contrivances and vagueness. Unless Protheans live for centuries at a time, in which case passage of time might allow them to downplay any details of the ME3 ending. And while Aria and the Illusive Man are interesting as unreliable sort-of-allies or as antagonists, I wouldn't particularly enjoy actually *playing* as either of them.

I can't believe you are complaining about Bioware taking their fan's ideas into consideration.

Sadly the single best idea will never happen: a game that is basically a buddy cop movie staring Javik and Zaeed as they go around kicking ass and trolling people (in the Citadel DLC Javik says that Zaeed is basically the only primative he likes and that they have discussed working togeather to take over the world once the Reapers are gone). Come on, don't tell me that wouldn't be AMAZING.

I would play this.

We could look at it that way...or we could praise bioware for listening to our ideas and taking them seriously enough to bring up formally

the next Mass Effect should be a sequel using multidimensional time travel so that all choice options can exist and all options in the ME universe are canon

I think all those ideas are terrible.

Clean slate Bioware. New characters, new story, new everything.

This please! Set in the same galaxy though, but in the future after all the Reaper dust has settled. No Pre-quel/Side-quels!

Mass Effect 3 was a spinoff, wasn't it?

And as for the article. I value my intelligence so I've sworn to myself that I'll stop reading anything they say... Except for Gamble, he's cool...

And honestly, this. If they aren't going to do a Mass Effect 4, they should start completely fresh.

This whole thread just tells me BioWare are screaming, "Well we said Shepard's story is over, but damn it we can't top these characters we've created! What.to.do..."

You guys do realize that most Mass Effect fans loved Kai Leng, right? It's just a vocal minority who thinks he sucks. His fans just don't spend as much time on BSN as his haters.

Duh, there are plenty of people who liked Kai Leng, just like the people who liked the endings. They just don't use this site.
