Knowledge leads to skill I believe. Learning from your mistakes. Good players do this, scrubs keep up the same crap that keeps getting them killed and never learn from it.

i would say my still limited skill came first, because i rarely remember half the info mentioned on here anyway. All this stuff like what kinda enemies come on wave 8 of platinum, or which weapons have inherent armor piercing etc I cant remember any of that.

10 percent luck, 20 percent skill!
15 percent concentrated power of will!
5 percent pleasure, 50 percent pain
And 100 percent reason to remember the name!

Sorry, had to.

A lot of good points made, and I agree it certainly isn't just applying knowledge. I guess most of us have these weird games where we forget all that we know, act like a scrub, and still come 1st in a pug game. I had one today (on lolsilver though), trying out the Drell Infiltrator for the first time. I used a Mantis with bad equipment, completely forgetting to use cloak and not sticking to my sub-par teammates. And if you thought this was an attempt at bragging, it's not, the others were quite terrible.

Knowlegde and skill are one and the same.

I believe you are talking about skill versus talent.

For me, knowledge came first. Knowing how each enemy operated, learning the signs of when they would unleash their big attacks, or go into sync kill mode. Right hand advantage, reload cancelling. I think those basics came first before my skill level went up.

Not necessarily. I could read about how to perform heart surgery, but you put a scalpel in my hand right afterwards, chances are the patient will end up dead. I'd have the knowledge, but I would not have the skill to perform such a task

(no I am not comparing the game to heart surgery, just pointing out that there is a difference between knowledge and skill)

Neither.

Imaginative game-play came first. This then led to knowledge which, in turn, could be honed and improven thus becoming skill(s).

Imagination > knowledge > skill

Knowledge comes first with ME3 MP than in many shooting games IMO. I bought ME3 for the console instead of PC because of... reasons (don't want to start unnecessary cross-platform talks).

ME3 is the first shooter I played for the console, so yes knowledge makes up for all that weirdness of aiming with stick in the early days.
