All I really want is a mage class that is clearly superior to the common wizard, so I figured the Candlekeep scholar would be fine with their improved metamagic feats. What I want is a combination of a sorceror, cleric, and scholar. Meaning a casting system from sorceror (no memorization), but automatically has access to all spells (like a cleric), not just a few selected at level up, and progresses through the scholar levels to get the meta magic feats but the class can be taken all the way to level 30 if I so chose later.
So I went into the 2da and set:
FeatsTable
CLS_FEAT_SCHOLAR
BonusFeatsTable
CLS_BFEAT_SORC
SpellGainTable
CLS_SPGN_SORC
SpellKnownTable
null
MemorizesSpells
0
AllSpellsKnown
1
PreReqTable
null
I just hopped in the MoTB to do a quick level up and got the maximize spell feat at level one like intended. But the first problem was I got the server illegal character warning even though I disabled the legal character check in the .ini file. But then I checked the level 1 character's spellbook and it has the whole kitchen sink, not just sorceror spells.
I know there have been successful caster classes like wild mage made, so what am I doing wrong? If this character class won't work, then it would be pointless to continue to try making a whole campaign about a character the game won't let exist.
Thanks.
