Oh come on, we all know what Liara did to us on Earth.

The farewell gift scene was nothing more than how it was described: an intimate way for the Asari to say farewell to close friends or loved ones. No blue babies were created.

Of course a player can head canon whatever they choose, but baby-making clearly wasn't the writers' intent with that scene.

10 or 20 years after ME3, so you can help with the rebuilding. I know this is a little off topic but I really want a Batarian squad mate in the next game, Bioware.

Seeing this odd interpretation of scenes, I have to wonder, did people also believe that this occured during the meld scenes in ME1? And that, during the two year gap between games, Liara was busily raising a super squad of Shepard's progeny to fight reapers? Because that sounds like a similar leap of logic.

Anyhoo, I agree completely that  the game should be a sequel, along with a decent gap of at least a hundred years before it follows on. That would not only allow time for the galaxy to believably return to form, but also allow Bioware to forget about importing a large number of plot choices, given how many of them could be irrelevant by that point. Having too many lingering effects from the previous games would probably be pretty hard to incorporate.

50,000 years later. It starts out with Shepard awakening from a Stasis Pod to help the advanced Yahg, Varren, and Pyjaks confront the Reapers for one last fight.

ME4

Tell me another story about the Shepard...

It's getting late but.... ok, one more story.

I'd say the ME4 should take place about 25 years into the future. This would allow a proper closure to the characters and events that took place in ME3 and the beginnings of the new antagonist(s).

Either a few years after the Reaper War, in which no ending is brought up or canonized. Or an alternate timeline where it never happened.

50 years after Sherard's arc. In a timeline where ME2 and ME3 never happened.

A few decades after is fine. The galaxy is rebuilding, and something happens to destabilize the galaxy once again.

I think a misconception is that the game has to surpass the trilogy in scale. IMO a compelling and well written villain is more interesting than an uber strong villain with a generally shallow purpose and characterization. The Joker, for example, isn't one of the most iconic comic book villains because of his strength - it's because of his characterization.

It should be set minutes after the beam that Harbinger smacked you with.

A post-Destroy ending Galaxy. No "individual Geth" crap they tried to impose on us and no more sissy Reapers void of any personality whose only role is to be slaves to Catalyst.

Would satisfy most fans and would allow a story to move forward.

Decades or maybe more on the future. I like the idea of one century after the reaper war - more than enough time to rebuild the galaxy.

I am ok as long it's not some prequel game (unless they canonize synthesis:sick:).

500 - 1000 years in a new galaxy.

Let them start with a clean slate because there is a lot of hate for the trilogy.

Wut?

I think you mean the ending of one game in the trilogy, ME3.

10-20 years after the events of ME3. Shep is dead and gone, but all/most of the rest of the cast is still around and aging to various degrees.

Right from the ending of ME3 or a few weeks, months later. I don't want prequels.
I want sequels and see people react to your choices.

Since I tend to give the same really long answer to this in many threads, I'll keep it short.

More personal plot, parallel to events between ME1/ME2. Focus on the shadier side of the galaxy, corporations, wretched hives of scum and villainy & whatnot. (Nemean Abyss? Yes please!) Hell, the corporation angle seems right up their alley, Hudson and Walters have said Deus Ex is their favorite game. And boy oh boy ain't that the truth.

One of my friends on Xbox Live came up with this great idea for ME4 do it as a prequel to ME1 Where you play as the first 3 council races and see how they started out as well as how they got there and found the Citadel. I then suggested we make the DLC be all the wars for example: Turian unification war, quarian/geth morning war, Krogan Rebellions and Rachi War. These are just a few I like the idea, but personally I LOVE Tali so much as long as I get to romance a quarian female or play as a quarian I don't care.

After ME3. Enough time to rebuild the Mass Relays. That way Shepard becomes a myth or a legend.

I'd like a sequel, set it a generation or 2 after the Reaper war.

After ME3.

Why?

During the events of ME1-3? = overshadowed by Reaper threat and would oblige us to delve back into the whole "Fight against the reapers" story. Done with that.

Prior to ME1? = negates the relevance of the story and impact. Decisions can't have a galatic ripple effect because the Repears pose a bigger threat.

Let's be done with the Repears and their threat and let's solely focus on a bigger story. A new story. Not one that will be overshadowed by an established future with limited consequences.
