I agree with the OP's opinion on Ashley. I truly can't stand her.

If you go along with Ashley, try to make her understand and make her your LI in ME3, it does get very emotional.

Otherwise, yes, she can be pretty annoying.

The Catalyst and Liara for me.

Kai Leng I don't find so much annoying as downright pathetic.

Brooks.

I want to kill her by overdosing her on medigel with simultaneous blasts of the high pitched noise of her own screaming amplified to x1,000 times the volume.

While using Dominate to control my Clone to violate her violently with an overheated Black Widow sniper rifle.

I would record the whole thing into a hologram to use as the screensaver for my kitchen's holoprojector.

Dr. Michel.

What... she's barely in the game... either ME1 or ME3...

I prefer Michel to Hacksaw. The younger and beautiful redheaded Swiss doctor will be good eye-candy for the crew and be strong for morale. Plus Joker needs a real love interest. Accent sounds kind of cheesy (having been to Geneva a few years ago). Lastly, I like the new and fresh outlook that she gives. It's better than the pro-alliance crap I get from the old bag Hacksaw. I alreadsy have to deal with enough of the alliances BS in the game.

Plus Hacksaw gets you a few war assets.

I never saw anything romantic in that. It was her being friendly. And I'm talking post-war. Joker gets together with Michel. At least that's how I ship them.

She was still grateful to Garrus and Shepard for saving her. I didn't get the impression that it was anything more to that. Besides, he just ended up sharing his turian chocolates with tali anyway.

I thought that I'd hate Ashley, but the more dialogue I saw the less annoying she was to me. Both she and Kaiden are written to be jerks in ME2 anyway.

I wouldn't take Michel to get war assets from Chakwas. Only reason I'd bother is to head-canon that doing so saves Michel from certain death on the citadel when the reapers take it. I never do though.

I always had that feeling ever since Harkin mentioned something about it.

Then the email in ME2...the turian chocolates in ME3.

I guess it can easily be headcanoned either way.

Traynor, Tali, Garrus (ME 2/3), Joker (ME3) and most characters we're supposed to hate (Udina, Kai Leng, Han Gerrel, etc.).

Eh, I don't see Tali and Garrus working out long. Tali had a crush on Shepard, and when Shepard told her no, she goes down to the next guy on the ladder. Garrus and Tali will eventually split over some difference or another, to go and rebuild their respective homeworlds (with Garrus being pulled by Shepard back into his reformed Cerberus).

I've hated Ashley since ME1. This stems from some of her early dialogue. I hate her attitude, her beliefs and opinions, and her general outlook. She has an unrequited love for Shepard (despite the two having a prior... romance in ME1), and she's rather possessive and obsessive with it. She's convinced that Cerberus has him brainwashed or under some kind of control. The truth is he isn't. Cerberus didn't need to do any of that. The alliance and the Council's own impotence and arrogance assured that.

The fans. The writers do a damn good job of presenting multi-faceted characters including *le gasp* one who believes in a higher power (Thane spends more time talking about religion than Ashley does, honestly) and one who has his **** together (Alenko perfectly captured what is expected in an officer and a leader and apparently merited hatred for this). That none of the arguments for hating them make any logical sense just makes me want to facepalm. Kai Leng was just one big bowl of wasted potential, as was Legion and even Udina to a certain extent. But the others? Pfft, Bioware deserved a better fanbase.

EDIT: I've noticed a similar attitude amongst fans of Cerberus to the fans of Rorschach in Watchmen. Nite-Owl generally gets a bad rep in that fandom for questioning why such extreme methods are necessary. Rorschach calls him weak for this, and the fans agree. Ironically, the writer intended the exact opposite of this, as Rorschach is an absolute monster, as is, when all is said and done, the Illusive Man and Cerberus.

I guess it varies with each Shepard, but I keep forgetting that the character dynamic changes with gender, and since my Shep is female, the Tali crush is nonexistent, same with Ashley. I could understand Ashley's attitude in ME1. Being a marine in a time just 2 decades after the first contact war would be fair reason to not trust aliens. Same with Pressly. It's too bad we don't learn of his change of heart until reading his corrupted datapad in the Normandy wreckage. Maybe I'm alone here, but I didn't want either her or Kaiden to die, but someone's gotta be plot-deathed.
By the way, am I the only one that wishes that a confrontation between Shepard and Toombs took place? He seemed pretty pissed about your dealings with Cerberus from the looks of his email.
