Most Annoying NPC

Kaidan doesn't emote OR have any angst. When you ask him about his background, he tells you about it, but nowhere else does he bring it up other than on the "biotic terrorists" side mission.
Where are people getting the idea that Kaidan angsts?

Well, everyone has their own reason for hating or loving certain characters. It's up to them to draw on how they play the game.
There's a lot of people who don't agree with or understand how I hate Ashley or the alliance or the Council, or with how I am fairly pro-Cerberus, how I respect and admire TIM (though I would never quite trust him or even like him as a person), how I think Miranda is the greatest character in the entire series, or how I am pro-Geth yet an advocate for Destroy.

It's unthinking because even after all the evidence, all the experiences she's had, she still ends up being speciest throughout the series. Even Pressley came around eventually. That sort of stubborn ignorance is indicative of a distinct lack of thought. Acting on ingrained beliefs rather than having the intellectual flexibility to reevaluate with new information.MassivelyEffective0730 wrote...
I more or less agree, but I don't think Ashley is an unthinking zealot. He's too indecisive and far too reflective to be a good leader. He would cripple under pressure and the requirements of battle to make life or death split-second decisions. That level of angst is either for retirement or for emo adolescents.MassivelyEffective0730 wrote...
As for Kaidan, I'll tell you as a junior officer (and prior-enlisted soldier) and a leader that he does have a very solid background. I don't see the whiner tendencies that other people do. He's a quiet, more reserved man who's much more complex and philosophical than Ashley, but that doesn't make him worse. He'll question Shepard, but he won't get outright upset or let his prejudgments totally skew his opinion. He observes and legitimately questions actions that he doesn't believe are right. I'd actually want him as a subordinate officer with his capabilities for looking at things from a different perspective.
I can see the first part with Ashley, and I agree with her being that way, but I still wouldn't call her a religious zealot (even though my Shepard does just that). I've never seen any indecisiveness from Kaidan. And who says good leaders can't be reflective? I like to think I'm a decent officer, and I'm very reflective. I don't wallow around and question every decision I make, but I ponder the consequences of my decisions and the value behind my judgments. In fact, I never saw once cripple or fold under pressure in any of the battles. I saw him stand firm and obey orders with efficiency. And what about when he's guarding the Council?
I doubt his abilities in relation to being a Spectre (as I do with Ashley; neither of them deserve the job), but I don't think at all that he's not qualified for combat.

I'm not surprised, whenever I read such titles.Malisin wrote...
For me it's a toss-up between Kaidan or Ashley. Although I think the whiny douche-fest that is Kaidan in ME3 nails his own coffin in that respect. No matter what character I play, male or female, renegade or paragon, Ashley annoys the crap out of me with her xenophobic and religious BS. And quoting Tenneson and Whitman without even having read them herself? What a pretentious ho.
And then there's Kaidan. OMG, there's just no way on earth I believe any of the options I have to choose in order to get him on board. And him as a Spectre? Are you kidding me? He gets crippling angst over whether or not he should eat a Mars bar or a Snickers fer cryin' out loud!
So, which NPC do you find the most annoying?
Seriously, I don't get it: why are Kaidan and Ashley annoying? Because they're "human"? Because they have faults? Because they're no "cool aliens"? 'cause they're not blue, cute and sexy?
I don't get it.
Answer on question: it's that star child to me. Everyone else, including Kai Leng and Allers can get a decent story arc in my mind if I want. Star child won't ever get such story since it doesn't make sense at all.

Space ninja
Allers
I don't find any of the squadnates annoying. The voice acting on all of them is still light years ahead of Allers, and all their motives, IMO, are more relatable and more plausible than anything the star brat says. I feared mercs in ME2 more than I ever feared the space ninja.

Liara was annoying because I felt like the entire time, the game was trying to almost force you into a relationship with her. Don't get me wrong, I love Liara, but not in that way, and the game just couldn't seem to understand that. I started to almost resent her because I felt like she just couldn't be a friend. It always had to be her mindset of "Okay, I'll get him the next time we talk", and that was frustrating. It might seem I'm being a little nitpicky, but things like that get under my skin like no other.
Ashley was pretty much perfect right up until Horizon in ME2. She was my Shep's love, and I would do anything for her. But she just never seem to understand that all I was doing was helping humanity as a whole. I know that we fought Cerberus, and I'm not apart of them. I am merely helping them find the colonists, and stop The Collectors, because no one else really seems to give a damn. So, hell yeah I'm going to help whoever is actually looking into something like that. ME3 was even worse. She pretty much questioned me the entire game, and wouldn't give me a freakin' break. Everything I did, she had to question what my motivation was, or if Cerberus was in on it. I mean, my god she never trusted me. I never did anything to tell her otherwise that I wasn't trustworthy. She never trusted in what I told her, and was willing to kill me over it. I know she had her doubts, but she was suffering from some pretty serious paranoia.

Anoleis is pretty annoying, even if his annoyingness leads you to some other interesting characters on Noveria.
Watching Gianna arrest him is amusing, as is her interaction with Shepard in ME2.
I don't really even mean it in the sense of him being a bad character. I mean it in the sense that, if he were a real person, he'd drive me up the wall - it's like he's going out of his way to be unhelpful and rude.

The closest I've ever seen her come to xenophobia is stating that the council races would totally throw humanity under a bus to save their own skin (and SHE WAS RIGHT, mind you) and not being fond of the Geth (it's almost like a whole bunch of people important to her were slaughtered by Geth right before you met her or something). She even straight up rejects the ideals of real xenophobe group like Cerberus or Terra Prime.
As for religion, she brought it up once to ask if I was okay with her beliefs and then just made a few offhand references. She never tried to convert anyone, never talked down to anyone for not being religious.
Honestly, it's like a lot of people feel the need to exaggerate the things they don't like about her in order to 'justify' their opinion.

Maybe it has to do with her devaluing Shepard's skills and telling him/her that the only reason they survived Akuze/ got the job done on Torfan/Elysium, was because God was looking out for them and only succeeded because God willed it that way, if you chose certain dialog options. Or so I've heard I've never actually taken those options.

You should play through again and pay closer attention to all her dialogue. She says it plain and openly numerous times throughout the series that she doesn't like aliens.EnerPrime wrote...
Man, I just don't get where people get the 'Xenophobic Religious Zealot' Ashley from. It's like they played a completely different game.

She thinks giving a Turian c-sec officer access to the Normandy poses a security risk because the turians might steal secret technology built by the turians... Hang on...The closest I've ever seen her come to xenophobia is stating that the council races would totally throw humanity under a bus to save their own skin
Plus, there is that "I can't tell the aliens from the animals" you get in the presidium embassies which might give on the impression that Ash is a little bit xenophobic and is too stupid to know when to keep her mouth shut to avoid insulting alien ambassadors (supposedly that dialogue is only supposed to trigger by keepers but the net effect on how people perceive her is the same)
She's quite open about being a very literal believer, and she's entitled to her beliefs just like I am entitled to conclude that there is no point in having a discussion with anyone who takes the bible literally. As for religion, she brought it up once to ask if I was okay with her beliefs and then just made a few offhand references. She never tried to convert anyone, never talked down to anyone for not being religious.
Religion is a touchy subject, and making a character overtly religious will inevitably result in a strong reaction from the audience.

A few people have mentioned Garrus and I gotta ask, why? He's one of the coolest NPC's IMO.
Yeah, Garrus and Tali both.
I can see not liking them the way other people do...but hating them and finding them annoying...
...it really just seems like people are purposely going against the "grain" just because.

His whole "conversation start-up scene" in ME1 was wierd.
Not to mention the whole..."I don't want you to think I'm a...a whiner".
However, I can't say he was annoying...because you're not forced to talk to him.
