This is beyond a joke.

EVERY TIME I log in and attempt to play the game, I am told that the copy of The Stone Prisoner installed does not belong to my account and I cannot resume my game.

I only use one account on my computer, only I use my computer, and for quite some time, I have been happily using the copy of The Stone Prisoner that was included in my game.

If you morons at Bioware are going to let EA encourage you to use this user raping business model, at least get it right.

At this point, I am thinking not only of giving up on Dragon Age (and thus not buying any of the planned add-ons and expansions), but also cancelling my Mass Effect 2 pre-order through fear of that being just as poorly executed.

Try manually starting the Dragon Age Content Updater Service before you start the game:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

Its supposed to start automatically when the game starts, but on some systems it seems not to work correctly. Without it the game can't talk to the servers here to verify that you own the content. It doesn't try unless you are logged in.

One of the Bioware guys posted a beta fix that for me has resolved the issue I had with the service starting automatically upon game launch.

So it uses a Windows Service? Sloppy as hell.

It looks like it was disabled outright on my system, probably because I regularly clean up which services are allowed to run as I don't want my system to run like treacle when I perform simple tasks.

Thank you so much for pointing this out, Kepha. And no thank you to Bioware for using a Windows Service for this.

For the record, I had to re-enable the service AND run the repair tool's download cache cleaning task.

I've completed the game, not entirely sure I want to buy any other content. Fingers crossed Mass Effect 2 is better.
