Would you buy a next-gen console just for DA:I?-PS: No need to reply to say you're a PC gamer.

guys i have a question what do you do with old consoles?
i mean i can sell video adapter or sound card or hard drive. many of those parts will be used in office pcs one day.
what do you do with outdated consoles? i mean console is a junk as it is but is it becomes junk literally?

You can sell the console or its parts, and many governments offer recycling programs that accept consoles to reuse the electronics. I'd check with your local government, but this *really* isn't the place for a big discussion :P

My old consoles are sacrificed to the Fast Jimmy Shrine of Curiosity. When a console I own bites the dust or needs to be retired, I always open it up and perform a vivisection with the sucker still on.

Once I've had my fun, I then dispose of it when I do my annual electronics clean out, taking them to be proper disposal center along with all my other tech waste.

EDIT: On topic, no, I am a console player who will not be buying a next gen system until Q3 2014 at the earliest.

I can't think of a single game that would make me want to buy a next-gen console. I already have an Xbox 360 and I would really like to get a PS3 eventually. I figure the price will go down once Sony releases the PS4.

I'll just pack it up and take it to my local branch of CEX and sell it. would rather get some cash for it than take it down the local tip.

The current gen consoles are worth keeping, I think. Especially the PS3, which still allows me to play PS2 games. That's a huge catalog of games. I doubt the PS4 will be backwards compatible to the PS2.

No. I'll be buying it on PC, just like the previous games.

No. If/when I get a next gen console, it will be because the catalog of games appeals.

Agreed. For me to buy a next-gen console, its library of games I want to play has to outpace the library of games I still want to play on the current gen. Which is at least half-a-dozen right now.

To be honest I am not even certain I will buy the game if it runs on current gen hardware let alone upgrade for the sole purpose of playing it and it alone.

Worry more about actually selling the game itself first than trying to use it to sell consoles.

For me, it will depend entirely on whether you can import saves from the old consoles or not. If you can't, I'll probably just get it for 360 and get a new console further down the line (though I'm waiting for next week's reveal to see how badly I want it). If you can - which doesn't seem likely, but you never know - then yes, I'd be very tempted.

Yes I would. If DA3 is released to 360/PS3, I won't buy new console until 2014/2015. I bought 360 because of Mass Effect, bought original Xbox because of Kotor. I know, stupid me, but what can I say? I can't think straight when new BioWare game is coming. Heck, I've never been a PC gamer, but had to buy TOR anyway :D

Damn, if you're down to your final nail, I say just complete the job. Bury the corpse already. There's no way this game will resurrect your hopes. You need to at least be down to your second to the last nail for that.

If DA3 was exclusive to next-gen consoles, I'd get a console for it, yes.  (I assume it's coming out to PC's as well though.)

Why would I drop $500 on a console if only one game interested me?  Well, because in this hypothetical scenario of non-PC releases, I know that other next-gen exclusives like Witcher and Fallout and Elder Scrolls will appeal to me down the road.  And there will be games from console-only developers like Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream.  Potentially even Squeenix.  So it's not like you're saying "I'll pay $550 for DA3!"  It's more like you're saying "I'll pay the difference in console price at release vs. console price after many games are released.  And that's going to probably be $0 and is going to be no more than $100 by the time there is a library of games worth owning a new console for is out." So I don't see a lot of value in waiting.  Things like CPU's are such that you should never buy the most expensive one.  Things like TV's are such that you should never buy a new technology until the "bleeding edge" period is over.  But those are big dollar amounts you're talking about as opposed $100 spread out over a significant period of time.  Video game consoles don't seem to give you a lot of value for waiting.

No. I'm part of the PC Gaming Master Race.

With that being said, I'll be picking up a PS4 for certain exclusives... Uncharted and Twisted Metal off the top of my head.

Anyone who buys a console for a single game is certifiably insane. Luckily I do not have to deal with this dilemma. #pcmasterrace

Can't argue that.

Aye, here too. not a fan of MMORPGs, but I loved playing SWOTR for the story. If only the devs gave a damn about RP servers..

I'm just not gonna buy a $500 for DA:I. I would, but not for the time being, which is looking pretty bad for ole gamer me. >:/

Rodia, do you mind updating the title to say "PC Gamers Need Not Respond" in it?

If there was zero chance of you EVER buying a console, then no one cares if you would have bought a next gen one or not.

Normally, I wouldn't care. But when half of the responses in this thread are from PC player saying consoles, in general, are not what they like, then I'd say it may warrant the title update.

Pre- Mass Effect 3/Dragon Age 2 I'd have said yes, but now I am in wait and see mode. That is of course assuming I had disposable income after bills and such.... being a responsible adult sucks sometimes.

BTW, wtf is PC Gamer Master race? Are there actually PC gamers who still think it's unique to own a PC? Where do they live? 1988 Tunisia?
