Would you buy a next-gen console just for DA:I?-PS: No need to reply to say you're a PC gamer.

Sure, I was thinking of investing in a console next year. DA:I would just be another convincing arguement,

My initial response is no... After the issues the 360 had upon launch. That is not a trap I am anxious to jump back into. Now don't get me wrong, I will most certainly buy the next gen x box, however I am willing to wait a while, to make sure there's not an issue like the system overheating causing the X bracket 's solder to become unbonded ect. I was in the middle of playing (then newly released Oblivion )when it happened the last time, and I was without a system for a couple of weeks.

I am hoping they make it available for the older systems as well as the next gen, then the next time around? I will be more confident whatever latent issues, that no doubt will plague the next gen systems will be mitigated... XD

No. as much as I like the DA games I don't love them enough to buy a whole console for them. I do however, love a lot of other games coming out for the PS4, including the next DA game. I will not however, buy the PS4 at launch. I never have never had a single issue with my PS consoles though, but maybe that's the reason.

Most of what I heard about the next gen of consoles has been less then ideal, to say the least.

I thoroughly doubt any game will sell me on them. I'd wait a while for feedback on the console itself-performance, policies, etc. - before moving on to next gen. If I move on to next gen.

so what if the game used something totally different then what your running now on PC? and just for kicks lets say that in order to get the new games working you have to buy a new PC. Would you do it?

Lets just say that the only way to play the new games as a PC user is to fork out money for a new PC would you do it.

PC gamers do this all the time.  Always having the best available modular hardware is one of the strengths of PC gaming.  That being said, even a middling gaming PC is magnitudes more powerful than even the "next gen" console toys, so as long as the person in question has upgraded within the last 4-5 years, they should have no trouble running any console port.

I would yes.

But I've joined the master race so this problem no longer concerns me.

I would never get a new console just for one game, but since I plan on getting a next gen console anyway the point is moot.

I've been burned before buying a console in order to get a specific game. Then finding out that another game I wanted was going to be exclusive to another console anyway. so on. I can't really be bothered with consoles any more and would only buy one again if PC games entirely disappeared. Besides that I get the impression of an even worse community in many multiplayer games that are on console, suggesting they are attracting a somewhat different audience.

I was planing on buying it for Infamous's next title anyway. Other than Sony exclusives, I would get everything for PC if it can still handle it. I can use my PS3 controller on it anyway so not much reason to not pay 10 less. My real deciding factor is if it has mod tools or not, which version to buy. Ive bought all my consoles because of a title or just that console having my interest. Anyone claiming otherwise is lying.

ex: NES Super mario, gen: Sonic, SNES: Mario World, DreamCast: Shenmue, N64: Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Smash, Cube: Smash, Naruto Gekkitou Ninja Taisen 1-4 EX, PS3: Uncharted, MGS4, Valkyria Chronicles, etc

All were bought for a certain game and others were added to the collection.

It wouldn't be the first time I've bought a system solely for one game/series.

I recently bought a PS3 just so I could play the Uncharted games, although as an added bonus I can now play it and other games that I acquire with friends who don't own a 360 (which is most of them, actually; my friends are PS people).

However, if I'm lacking on funds I may just buy a PC copy instead of an Xbox copy + next-gen Xbox since while I prefer the Xbox I also have PC copies of both Dragon Age games. Which is funny because I really hate gaming on the PC (and yet I keep buying second copies of my favorite games for it, ha). I grew up playing handheld games so I generally prefer to have a single something in my hands rather than one hand trying to manage the keyboard controls while the other works the mouse.

You're right, nothing wrong with a bit of insanity. Broke college student here though.

No. There probably would be a few titles that would influence my decision on buying a next gen console, but I wouldn't exactly say it would be any one game either. Though games like Dragon Age or Mass Effect just wouldn't factor into those kind of decisions at all. I just don't have that kind of attachment to the series.

No because of several reasons, 1 DA:I will probably be out for PS3 and PS4, 2, it will take about 6 months to a year before the really good games to start coming out and finally I have to buy one for me and one for my son so we can play online when he's with his mom. Also within that same timeline ill be able to buy two of them from the local pawn shops for about the same price of a new one.

I would never buy a console, or any technology for that matter, when it has just come out. There will probably be problems with the new consoles at release, so I will wait until they fix it. I learnt my lesson after buying a newly released graphics card, which ended up having serious heat issues.

Honestly? Yes. Which one depends on if I could import my old saves or not.
I've been a Playstation person for years. I only started playing Xbox for Dragon Age since he had Origins.

But if I can't import my old files because of the next gen issues, then I'll get the PS4...OH! Or the Wii U. Their disks have smooth edges. I doubt Dragon Age 3 will come out for Wii U, but if it does, you best believe that's what I'll get.

No I would not. I would prefer to spend the money a next gen console would cost to improve my PC so that I can be sure that I can run DA3's visuals on the highest settings.

BTW, I am an XBox 360 owner, not a PC snob. As long as there's a version for the current gen systems, that's what I'll be getting it for. If forced to choose between PC or next gen, PC will win. I'm actually skeptical about how good the next gen will be and worried about rumours concerning lack of backwards compatibility and fear that both Sony and Microsoft are more concerned about creating multimedia machines to attract casual gamers and families rather than focusing on creating really good gaming systems, which is what consoles are supposed to be after all.

I don't think I'll buy the PS4 at release. not for DA3, anyway. I don't even have such a great wish to buy the game, since everythig, so far, made me think of DA:I as DA2.2. I have still to hear something that have been taken from DA:O. but even if the game was at least acceptable, I will buy it used or when very cheap. But I don't think it would happen.
And I have a lot of games still to play on the current gen.

I may change my mind for Cyberpunk and beyond good and evil 2, and buy as soon as possible the PS4.
