Best Bonus Power for Engineer

Just wondering. I'm level 12 and have just landed on the "Dorment" Collector Vessel where I chose Assault Rifles. I've maxed the Attack Drone power and have assigned a few points to Overload and Incenerate. And ofcourse, I play on Insanity.

It depends on how you spec your Engineer. Assuming you plan to focus on Overload, Incinerate, and Drone--which is the most common ME2 Engineer build--then I recommend one of the following:

1-point Neural Shock, which is good until you start putting points into Cryo Blast (although not everyone likes Cryo Blast). It has a quick cooldown (3 seconds base) and can incapacitate organic enemies for 5 seconds at rank 1.

Another option is Reave if you do not mind putting a biotic talent on a tech-based class. That will give you an option to strip barriers quickly. You can then ignore Incinerate, although Incinerate is much better versus armor. Reave has a base 6-second cooldown, the same as Overload and Incinerate, so you may not want another long cooldown.

Flashbang is another option (requires Stolen Memory/Kasumi DLC). I have seen at least one person use it to great effect on an Engineer. But it also has a base 6 second cooldown and does not benefit from the tech cooldown upgrade.

I suppose you could use an ammo power, but their use is questionable on an Engineer.

Depends on what you want.

I prefer 1-point Neural Shock myself, but I hardly use it. If I am using Overload and Incinerate, then I am not using Neural Shock or Cryo Blast really. I use Mordin's Cryo Blast  instead: my Overload/Incinerate > Mordin's Cryo Blast. When fully-evolved and with the tech cooldown upgrade, Mordin's Cryo Blast has about the same cooldown as Engineer Shepard's Overload and Incinerate.

Flashbang will stop most enemies from shooting at you for the incapacitate duration (shotgun enemies recover sooner/eject heat sink to shoot sooner). Improved Flashbang is the best evolution. Flashbang will work through defenses, but will not knock protected enemies down. Flashbang will also stop Harbinger from casting his powers at you.

Area Reave is the best evolution of Reave. If you are focusing on stripping defenses only, then this is a good option. It also restores your own health when it hits organic health.

Up to you really. You should have enough Eezo to re-assign your powers and experiment to see what better suits your playstyle.
