Just my 2 cents after going through a few matches that had me thinking about this. I'm probably either completely wrong or over-anazlying this too much, probably a bit of both.

Oh yeah, you can't fault the new players. They're still learning and will find out what works and what doesn't. This was mainly about those who I assume have been around for a while yet haven't noticed. Just like that one match we had on Glacier, where we both thought it would be a pretty good match and turned out the exact opposite.Datdude1970 wrote...
Noticing an influx of new players over the past few weeks. Thinking a lot of it can be explained by the fact that your average PUG player just doesn't understand how things work yet. Saw a pretty new player yesterday, pleased as punch to slap on whatever equipment he just pulled from his veteran pack, including a shotgun rail amp to enhance his Avenger II. They will get it eventually if they stick with the game...one of the reasons I like playing PUGs at 3 difficulty levels....you can actually be a good community steward and help the new crop of players.

Waves 3, 5, 6, 9 and 10 are all good waves to bleed out. Must not bleed out in Wave 11.
No equipment, no gear, a level 3 uncommon weapon is good for gold. Using level 3 characters naked is also a good idea!
If i bleed out, it not because i'm out of my league, its because they never revived me
Playing the game means spectating. Much fun is had by being dead
Objective waves are good waves to shoot things as far away from the others as possible
Dropping every wave is good. It shows how skilled i man in dropping.
After running into a mass of enemies then drop, i must repeat this as its an obviously very good tactic
Player X did that and didn't die, so i can do the same and not die too!
A juggernaut means i'm ready to play gold and platinum! Dropping many times a wave as a juggernaut means i'm doing good!

I'd heard about Asari sniper builds before the Huntress came out, but I've never heard of a Phoenix sniper build.
And this was Gold.

Anyway... I imagine they are just thinking they need $$$ (credits) fast and quick. So they hope they can search for a lobby that will carry them all the way to extraction. Last night we let this paladin play that was running armored compartments and some low level guns (it was U/U/P too). And all he did was die left & right. Both games around Wave 9 he only had 30k. At wave 10 he would rocket his score up to 70k because he'd try to missile everything.
What was he thinking? We could only guess. We watched him hide in the corner and die repeatedly even if no enemies were near him. Was pretty weird

This thread wasn't meant to bash on new players. It was about those who have been around for a while yet still don't seem to get what works and what doesn't. --Tonymac wrote...
You guys are just mean hearted. There are a lot of new players who are joining us and learning the ropes. New players will make mistakes - just like we made mistakes. Granted, some puggers make some really bad choices......

1) PUG does not mean bad player or players with bad load outs etc. PUG is a player in a public game and there are just loads who are very good, very competent and very talented. If you want to talk about bad load outs or bad players talk about them but tossing every single public player into 'pug' is pretty meaningless.
2) It's a MASSIVE bonus to see players equip anything other than gear so I really don't care if they make a load out mistake.
