So imagine that you're going to play some PUGs, and you want a kit that isn't ridiculously overpowered like the GI or Valkyrie or whatever flavor of cheese you normally like, but you don't want something that will make you feel hopelessly handicapped either. So a kit that has strong DPS without making killing everything by yourself stupidly easy. What kit would you use?

For me it's the Quarian Marksman Soldier with a Talon. Really powerful - probably one of the top ten setups in the game even - but at the same time doesn't allow you to roflstomp everything effortlessly and stress-free like some kits (GI, Geth Trooper, or Drell Adept for example).

A kit that I like that took some getting used to before I got good with it is the Vanilladept/Carnifex. I played this kit consistently for the first month that I owned the game (since I didn't have anything else that I was eager to play) and I can play it anytime and do well.

I was going to say QMS, but since that is taken I will go with Volus Sentinel.

I'd say the N7 Shadow is a well-rounded kit that I enjoy. Underappreciated, and what I can do with her leaves most people affirmed they are doing it wrong

IDK. I like the geth engineer pretty well. He's not monumentally OP like infiltrators, flamer kits, or grenade kits but he is enjoyable to play. I can run around and shoot thing and support my team as well. He does everything well.

GI allows for anybody to kill without effort?

Lately I'd probably go with Justicar or N7 Fury.

Wallhack and an AoE stagger. What more could you want? Maybe a rookie might struggle because they don't know how to play it, but that kit is nowhere close to 'well-balanced' and I can't take seriously any suggestion that it is.

Yup, +1.

Also I like the HFE. She needs to be played agressively, and you gotta use Incinerate before Overload for MAXIMUM SPLOSIONS. Her Drone is incredibly effective still against Geth, and decent enough vs other factions.

All the ones I was going to say are taken, so I'll go with the HE and the Venom. QMS with the Talon is my boy though...

Edit - Qui got in before me.

Durability. Put the average pug on a GI and throw him at the enemy and all you're gonna get back is a pile of scrap metal.

If you want only characters that everybody can't steamroll the enemy with the GI is one of them, because his durability does require that you actually know how to play him.

Or that you have an endless supply of Cyclonic Modulators.

Here lately I've been infatuated with the vanilla human soldier Cryo build. I can only imagine the surprise on the randoms faces when they continually see TMB903 [Concussive Shot] in the killfeed

You are asking for Turian Sentinel for the answer here.

...unless people think he is a crutch too...
