You literally can not die during the heavy melee.

I am pretty sure I died a lot during the Batarian Heavy Melee :) ... (even if the melee animation carries out)

with blade armor, DR from charge, and DR from heavy melee... you really should not die during the heavy melee. I tested this, had several primes and pyros all firing at me and I didn't lose any shields during the heavy melee.

Whenever this thread comes up I mention this.

I never ever fire my weapon when I kroguard. I equip the Disciple with the omniblade and just smack everyone. Get into a rhythm of charge/smack/smack and you're good. No need to fire a shot, especially against no-sync-kill enemies.

At least one person here understands how a real Krogan should do things.

Oh, undoubtedly, but i'm saying if he actually has them, then they're a much better option.

Trust me, i'm in the same boat as you. I can't get Cyclonics, Shotgun Rail Amps, or Adrenaline Modules to save my life.

those 30% cooldown reduction are always a bit disapointing in pratice, no ? Should allow you to charge 30% more but in practice, it doesn't fell that way. I have few level IV cyclonic at the moment. Is it me or UR weapons becomes UUUR after you get everything else ?

The Batguard can be staggered out of heavy melee.

geth don't seem to have enough force to stagger the heavy melee on gold. as I said, I have done this many times.

On your wave 5, the last 2 primes are a later spawn in the basement. It's allways a later spawn ? and are you lucky that it happens in the basement ?

After  you nuke the first spawn, the respawn depends on your position but generally whether it splits the geth primes is very hard to control.  Which is why nuking the first spawn is usually the best,  It's the only one with a highly predictable position in a solo.  There's no *always* after the first spawn.

Yeah, it's still kinda shameful, though. I guess it depends on whether your goal is to become a soloer, or to just get the challenge over with. If you want to do legit solos, then Kroguarding doesn't really teach you much. You don't really need to kite enemies or be overly smart about objectives, because his shields are so high and so frequently refilled that combined with the DR of Barrier (and possibly rage mode), you just don't have to be wary of enemy damage.

Yeah, i see it now, it s even too easy to be a real achievment. The cyclonic IV/shield V makes it too comfortable. I don't think I learnt smthg there. I will maybe try a ghost infiltrator run / melee Batguard / or speed. But I fell like the speed run will be difficult to control.

The melee damage return of the batarian armor still do not work on gold ?

Thx everybody for taking the time too answer on this boring debate ;)

the blade armor damage returned always returned damage. However, it was never intended to return a lot of damage (base damage of an enemy attack before difficulty modifiers), and even then its less than damage returned on silver (bug). The point of return damage is to stagger the mooks that hit you so you get some leeway, not to return enough to kill them.

Well, if it is written in the power tree "250 % damage returned", then U should be alble to count on it !
I agree it's quite a stupid but ...
You mean that base melee damage from foes are quite low before the difficulty modifier ? Anyway, then the description would be very misleading and the fact that the returned damage is very big on lower difficulties tends to proove that the thing is bugged on gold and plat.

****LATEST UPDATE*****

Thanks for the support everybody! Chris Schanche is looking into the matter. In the meantime, here are the current results.

Blade
Armor is bugged on gold and platinum. Based on tests by Cyonan and
Corlist, it appears that Blade Armor DIVIDES the base damage by three on
Gold and Platinum, and returns that value, hence why so little damage
is dealt. This is in contrast to Silver and Bronze, in which BA deals 3x
the base damage back (often nearly killing most troopers). Thanks to
Annomander, Cyonan, and corlist for helping nail down the bug.

There
also still is the possibility that Blade Armor returns no damage if the
damage cap of 2000 is exceeded, instead of dealing 2000 like intended. I
originally felt like this was the case, but I've not done extensive
testing and am inclined to defer to Cyonan and Corlist's tests.

And a good way of making your single Cyclonic IV last for 100 solos

yes, the base damage is very low. On silver, if i recall, it returned 600-700 damage... then, (this is where it is bugged), its almsot halved when the damage is dealt on gold (like 300ish)

I don't see what there is to "prove" as I didn't say that it wasn't bugged, however you stated, "THe blade armor return damage is working now on gold ?" to which i replied, "the return damage has always worked, its just bugged to not do very much"

The difference between the bugged damage and non-bugged damage wouldn't be all that much different anyway, and frankly, it shouldn't make or break someone's decision to spec into blade armor or not as damage returned is such a small pro
