im really sick of this dog companion busines in rpgs. fable skyrim mass effect fallout and dragi age all have dog companions im sick of walking around with dog if theres a mabari companion in dragon age inquisiton i strongly doubt i wil buy the game so i came up with cool pet companions they are based on your class.

for examples mage class has spider hes your best frined from your childhood but hes kinda evil and whispers bad suff in your ear when your alone he starts of small but you can feed him with ppl you dont like so that he grows big until he become giant spider

I like the mabari but something else would cool even if it is mostly just a reskin.. though I think origin -based would be better than class based. less likely to clash roleplay/story wise

Mass Effect had a dog?

Also, the if the pets were class-based, they should compliment your characters abilities.

A mage would have some sort of crowd-controller (a big spider works, with some sort of web ability) to keep the mobs off of him.

Rogue should have something that doesn't impeded stealth. A bear is not sneaky. I would go with a large cat, or possibly a snake.

Warrior: Rhinos are just too big to be reasonable. Doors and things become a problem, not to mention visibility (remember the bronto in Golems of Amgarrak?). I'd go with a dog here, but more of a wolf than a hound.

------

Although personally, I would rather base the pet on the background (since that has been confirmed as a character creation choice).

Regardless of class, if you grew up in the wilds, maybe you have a wolf companion.

If you were from nobility, maybe some sort of exotic pet, like a tiger.

Something like that.

I would like to see a ghast companion along those lines. If you're a warrior or a rogue, you get a velghastrial that can use magic to buff you and cause damage. If you're a mage, you get a brutal ghast that acts as a mini-tank.

Well now, this isn't actually the worst idea you've come up with. That would probably be the PC having visions from the Maker, which while it can be done well in other settings, is completely beside the point of this one. Edit: No, wait, I'm wrong. Your absolute worst is the one where you suggest completely throwing out character building and just have Anders be the PC, despite the fact that he might well be dead in the import.

Back on track, I'd prefer the Torchlight system, where you pick a pet independently of the other character creation decisions. (I'd probably pick some form of canine, but that's not really the point.)

Sadly it didn't even do that. It walked around the lower deck in a circle. If you stood in its way it would sit down and eventually go to sleep. That's it. Most disappointing collectors edition pet ever :(

I have never seen a realistic in-game depiction (as opposed to a cutscene or cinematic) of a bird before in a videogame . It's very difficult to do, which is why it is so rare to even see birds at all unless they are little more than animated background scenery.

so if there is a dog in the game as a companion or pet you will not buy it? also the dog in mass effect OP is talking about is the robo dog that was in the shuttle bay in the normandy in ME3

Werewolves aren't animals.
