What do you think are the best designed classes?

By that I mean that it has a set of three powers that work together well to create cohesive character.  Three powers which interact positively with each other to create a "sum that is greater than the parts."  EG, a GI has hunter mode, which improves TC.  TC improves prox mine, and prox mine improves everything.  A TGI has stim packs, TC, and overload, all of which are top tier powers, but don't exactly interact as nicely.

I've got:

Tier 1:

Batarian Soldier:  Staggering, AoE machine

Geth Infiltrator:  Ultimate weapon class.

Fury: Biotic explosion goodness

Tier 2:

Destroyer: if only HML didn't give screen shake

Melee AIU: Fast, powerful melee, AoE stagger, cloak, repair matrix for added tankiness and speed, shotgun boost to go with the shotgun omniblade

Valkyrie: Close range DPS, tech armor + AF for tankiness to survive in close

Salarian Infiltrator: Beginner's first sniper

Volus Engineer:  Perfect support class

Vorcha Sentinel: Flamer +Clusters=skill

Geth Trooper:  Ultimate flamer use + tankiness + hunter mode for better weapon range

Paladin:  Tech master, especially with smart use of flame shield

Honorable mentions:

QME, TSen, Havoc, Demolisher, Collector Adept, TGI, GE

I like the design of vanguards in general, but they pretty much universally have crappy third powers

Your thoughts?

I would put TSen in tier 2 at least if not tier 1

Blade Armor isn't as good as Tech Armor unless you go for full falcon punching but otherwise I agree with a lot of your choices.

Gotta say GI.
After that Krogan Soldier.
Too tired to give reasons.

Now I think about each class...

I think Phoenix classes are very well designed.
There is nothing brute about them.. when perfectly reacted to situation each of their power shine perfectly. If poorly played without plan.. they die.

Before Acolyte, I used to use Lash on them. Now I skip lash.. thanks to acolyte.
I think well designed class should not skip any of 3 powers they have.

- Volus VanGOD

- Provided Poison Strike had a wider radius and its hitbox was the entirety of the dash range, than i'd say the Cabal

- Salarian Infiltrator

- Novaguard

Lots of others.

I actually had that discussion.  IMO, the TSen is more a case of 3 good powers which admittedly do a good job of fulfilling different niches.  But it was my list, so I put it were I wanted!:D

I particularly like Blade Armor with the Bat Sol because the melee return staggers, which work well with the up close style for ballistic blades.  And BB +IG is massive AoE damage, burning down spawns with ease.

Cloak + Biotic Charge. Reduces aggro drawn, greatly improving survivability.

Bonus Power + Shield Boost. 1.5 seconds of invulnerability, plus 90% DR from BC + SB.

TSent for me. Not the most OP class, but can be built a number of ways and has good synergy with any tech or biotic team. I appreciate his durability and weapons passives on top of that. Just a very well rounded character.

That... actually sounds very good. Never thought of what you described. I will definitely try that.

I never really had any interest in trying many of the retaliation dlc kits because of their "recycled" powers which I thought I already knew everything about. Its only now that I am discovering how good some of the retaliation kits are.

Turian Sentinel. If he could roll he would be the best character in the game.

Oh no I agree the Batsol's powers are very good (BA aside, which I only take 3 points of for DR).

Out of all of the classes, I think the Geth Trooper was arguably Bioware's greatest (if somewhat accidental) success.

Not because he performs better in any role than anything else, but the kit has so much variety...

- Flamer build

- Hybrid build

- Weapons platform build

- Melee build

- Melee hybrid build

How many other kits are there with FIVE very distinct and very different playstyles?

Human Adept.

Singularity -> Shockwave -> Warp -> Singularity Detonation = 2 BEs with 3 Powers

Best and smoothest adept of all that don't rely on grenades or AF.

It's actually 100% DR, which works out to an in-game DR of  71.4%

Oh, i'm aware, I just don't like saying that because some people then want me to go into an explanation of what I mean, which i'm far "to" lazy to do. :P

Turian Sentinel I think stll trumps...I think there was no "wrong" way to build that class...as long as you put all of your points into something, you would have a strong character....

Turian Sentinel is great class and is easily my favorite character...
but I think it`s the basic versality of Overload & Warp that makes him great. His powers do not synergy a lot.. although Warp & Overload is ridiculously useful.
