So, as we know, Fiona gave birth to Maric's son and gave orders for to make sure he
thought that his mother was a human who died, and asked Duncan to watch over him.
Alistair thought that his mother was a maid in the king's palace who died upon his birth.

It seems likely that Fiona is indeed Alistair's mother (I for one didn't see the vaguest resemblance
between Alistair and Goldanna). Also, She's a mage-warden, which may account for him surviving the
joining and showing promise as a templar.

As of 9:39 Dragon, the grand enchanter (who traditionally lives in Val Royeaux) has been the same Fiona.
So if  "Inquisition" is indeed to be set in Orlais, is anyone expecting (or indeed hoping for)  a dramatic mother-son reunion? It would stand to reason that Alistair would show up in Orlais, to help Celene I figure out what to do
about the mage-templar war, and he would be able to sense another warden in the vicinity, why wouldn't he go
and check her out? Perhaps he sees something of her in himself, perhaps she had his eyes or his mannerisms? With this information, does anyone expect to see king alistair finally find his family?

Likely. Whether or not he will recognise her as his mother is disputable.

While he's roasting on a pyre? I don't think so. And when he's not doing that, he's being drunk and useless.

I totally thought Alistair was actually the baby that Fiona and Duncan brought to Maric for, like, years. I've recently changed my opinion on that one.

According to the timeline in World of Thedas, Alistair was born four years before the events of The Calling. So I don't really see how Fiona could be his mom. However, this does mean there's another one of Maric's children out there in Thedas if this dragon blood thing that's being explored in the comics becomes an important part of the story. Even if Alistair isn't in your version of Thedas the Theirin bloodline lives on.

I wouldn't mind.

But it would be cooler if it turned out Fiona's kid is another one!

Fair enough, that is disputable, but what's to stop her caving in and admitting it all if she sees him?

Will she recognize him? Actually scratch that, will WE recognize him? Alistair got some plastic surgery between 9:28 and 9:40 Dragon Age.

But yeah sure, I'm all for Alistair meeting his mommy

Will Alistair and Fiona meet? I hope not for Alistair's sake. Once she catches wind that he was training to be a Templar, she'll eat him alive. But... I can't stand Alistair, so actually.... I could live with that scenario.

If Fiona is Alistair's mum then what is Goldanna? If she is half-elf as well why isn't she in the Alienage? And why did Fiona leave her?

the calling takes place in 9:14 and dao is in 9:30 that would make Alistair 16 in dao... ya I don't think hes 16. also he mentions that Eamon took him in partially to keep his existence hidden from queen rowan... who died 2 years(?) before the calling.

The timeline on WoT is wrong.

You do know you're going to have to provide proof?

I wish what happens in the books would stay in the books apart from something small like an Easter egg or small reference.

Personally I haven't read or seen that book yet so it is hard to say, for now.  However, we also have to remember the fact that the Alistair could of died back in DA:O in either the Landsmeet or the Battle for Denerim.  Don't get me wrong it would be very interesting to see, but it won't have as big an impact if they aren't related.  My question for now is, is their a third son?

I would assume there is a third son, by die hard fans are dead set on putting Alistair as Fiona's son for some reason. I think all that fanfiction has gotten to their brains >.>.

spoilers, Fiona is no longer tainted so I doubt he would be able to figure out that she was a warden once, and what if Alistair was a drunk or a warden he would have no reason to help the empress

It's not a secret she used to be a Warden, I think.
Been some time since I read it, but isn't it mentioned in Asunder too?

I used to believe that Fiona was Alistair's mother, but I've since become convinced of a third son. It's been hinted that the Theirin bloodline is relevant to DAI. With Fiona leading the mages, I'm betting on his involvement. Maybe a companion, who knows.
