Alistair is not the son of fiona. The timeline says so, and in the calling it's wrote that before going to the magi tower, king maric wanted to stop in a nearby village for an unkonw reason. I think he wanted to meet alistair before adventuring in the deep roads.
Considering that in the offical story Alistair's mother died during Alistair's birth, and his mother worked as a maid in Redcliffe (so Alistair never left Redcliffe before he was sent to the Chantry), I doubt that Maric wanted to see Alistair. Unless the "village" mentioned in the book is Refcliffe.

That was a cover up, because fiona wanted Alistair to be raised as a human, she did not want anyone finding out that he was part elven.hhh89 wrote...

I get a kick out of annoying him in Origins.

Alistair is NOT Fionas child and he told us so. There is a third Maric bastard out there (at a minimum, because even heroes can sleep around).

The child of an elf and a human is human. Slim Couldry has an elven parent but is completely human. Of course, from his convos in the Denerim marketplace, that didn't spare him the social stigma. So is Feynriel. He's a little more slender than Slim (oh, that's funny), but he's still human. So it's conceivable that Alistair's mom, even if it isn't Fiona (and I don't know which is "wrong," the WoT timeline or The Calling, but I personally go with the most recent information unless otherwise explicitly stated), could be an elf. Maric seems to have a thing for them.TMJfin wrote...
I haven't yet finished The Calling (little boring IMO), but if Fiona is indeed Alistair's mom, shouldnt Alistair look like little bit of elven? It seems little bit far fetched to me. So I'm going for "There's another Theirin somewhere in Thedas".

But maybe those ears were just another weird art thing and I'm reading too much into them.

:huh:You didn't understand what I said. Gorguz believes that Alistair isn't Fiona's son, and that in the Calling Maric wanted to stop in a village to see him. I responded that this couldn't be possible, since in the official story Alistair was already at Redcliffe.
I didn't express any opinions about Alistair's mother (which by the way there is no confirmation). I said that regardless who is Alistair's mother, in The Calling Maric didn't want to stop to the village to see Alistair. That's what I was arguing about.

Its been said already but naaah. Half-elves will look entirely human, as if there was no difference.

I hope Fiona turns out to be Al's mom, but what about Maric telling Alistair in the comics that 'your mother' is not 'in the real world any longer'? D:
I really believe Maric was just continuing to live up to the promise he made to Fiona; he promised her that that the child would never know of his elven heritage. Maric was probably well aware of the official story that Alistair was told, and I think he was playing along, even after all those years trapped by Titus. That, and Gaider even tweeted that Maric's quote could be interpreted a number of ways...depends on how much you think Maric is aware of current events, given that he was Titus' prisoner for 8 years...I think....

I can buy this. I swear, there needs to be a Gaider tweet codex.

If Fiona is Alistair's mum then what is
Goldanna? If she is half-elf as well why isn't she in the Alienage? And
why did Fiona leave her?
^Just a ruse so that no one knew Alistair's true heritaaaage
Goldanna even says that her mother had a child of the King's, and that she was paid off to keep it a secret. So if Alistair is Fiona's, then doesn't that means Maric still had another kid, and they swapped them for some reason and gave Alistair the story of another half sibling's birth? Because that's not convoluted at all.
And if they wanted to hide Alistair's heritage, why didn't they hide it completely? There are too many complications for the Fiona theory to be valid.

Put Anora on the throne and recruit Loghain. Don't use your boon to spare Alistar.
