Considering Fiona likely dies at the start of the game in the explosion with most of the apparent mage and templar and chantry leadership.

Honestly I know that the arc is said to be present in DA:I;  but I don't know why she wouldn't be at the peace conference with the Divine and be therefor dead.

Well it is a peace conference, and diplomacy isn't exactly Fiona's strong suit.

I think there's a 50/50 chance that Fiona was either at the conference, meaning she's certainly dead, or that she sent a representative in her stead, meaning she's likely alive. Hard to know for sure. She certainly would have sent someone else if she actually wanted the peace talks to accomplish something.

Mom!  It's so good to see you here at the peace confer...

*BOOM*

Yes, Bioware... make that happen.

Didn't the Dev's confirm Alistair was Fiona's child twice? once at Gaymer and the other on the Q&A with the devs?

The devs have never said the actual words "Fiona is Alistair's mother", which is why these silly debates continue. Instead they like to make cryptic little asides that give what appears to be an answer without shutting the argument down once and for all. I suspect the devs get lulz out this never ending argument, so they stoke it every now and the because they can.

Actually i just looked around and it was pretty much confirmed. this is from the Raptr Q&A

(MD is Mark Darrah.)

Q: Ok so dragon age 1 was my favorite out of the 2 games. I liked the fighting stile better on da2. Ive beaten the first game with every charicter type. My fav was my dalish elf named turrin. In one of the endings i chose to breed my elf with morgan. Will their sons look half elf? And are you planning on bringing back race for charicter selection in the future games? Because honestley that was my favorite thing about dao
A: There are no half elves in DA. The Human side always dominates the appearance. Hence Alistair (MD)

Here's a link to the Q&A http://raptr.com/Bio...tion-developers

And david Gaider mentions it briefly in his Interview with Lady Insanity www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhXCpKDqFb8

Also i must thank Icy magebane for pointing me in the right direction for the link.

Those were the asides I was referring to. Like I said, they imply it a number of times, but never say it outright and end the debate once and for all.

They just said he was elven? Maybe they didn't outright say it. But the dev said he was a half elf. so what other conclusion can there be?

Duncan taking care of alistair. Fiona giving birth to a half elf. And dev's confirming he is half elf. seems like the debate is over.

Yeah it was confirmed that Alistair is Fiona's son in the raptr q&a, but as to the meeting I'm probably in the minority in that I would probably try and prevent this meeting. Not because I'm malicious or dislike alistair....Fiona on the other hand....but not even because I dislike Fiona. The poor guys got abandonment issues, first his lack of acknowledgment by his father plus his "sister's" attitude and disregard for him combined with eamon's questionable treatment of hIm during his childhood and shipping him off AND his mentor and father figure Duncan dying are enough. Now to add to that, not only is his mother alive but has never contacted him before? Not only that but if anyone figured out that Alistair (specifically referring to king Alistair here only) is not only elf blooded, but hes also the child of an ORLESIAN mage it would be quite a blow to his political career. Let him think that his mother was a serving girl who died giving birth to him and keep his belief that if she lived she would have loved him, sometimes the fantasy is better than the truth in my opinion...which all of the above is of course.

And would alistair even agree with her? the war that is probably ripping across his kingdom. i don't think he would be the happiest monarch in the world to meet his mummy

Because some people in this fandom are very passionate about their beliefs and nothing short of an absolute refutation by a member of the dev team will convince them they are wrong (and sometimes not even then). Personally, I thought it was pretty obvious that Fiona was Alistair's mother right from when I read The Calling, but there are others who have, right up until this point, refused to accept it, and there are even some that refuse to accept it now and "headcanon" something else. Basically people being stubborn and refusing to see what is right in front of them.

Same with me, the calling wouldn't exactly word it the way it did if it wasn't trying to indicate something important like a main character being an elf.

I just didn't know if they confirmed it because people were still arguing about it.
