Oh wait, let me make this relevant. Do you think all the original voice actors will return for Inquisition ( I really don't care if you answer this but feel free)

I'm mopping up a few leftover achievements in Skyrim and I could've sworn I heard Meridith, in Meridia ( Daedric Prince, quest BREAK OF DAWN ), Zevran all over the place ( especially with Khajit, Kesh the Clean ex. found in THE ONLY CURE ), and Fenris' super distinct voice all over the place ( I think atleast one person in the original Dark BrotherHood Sanctuary has it ).- If you're in the know yea I was hunting the oblivion walker achievement. These quests are sooooo good. The artifacts meh, my pinky does 50,000 physical damage so w/e.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's kind of awesome ( if that is the case ) if not a little awkward.

And yea, see for yourselves if you want.

Yeah, some actors get more work than others. You're correct on Meredith. She's Meridia and the Thalmor ambassador Elenwen.

I guess some get all of this work simply because they're talented. Steve Blum comes to mind. He's done a lot of anime (he's the voice of Spike Spiegel), but he does Oghren and First Enchanter Irving. They all have that raspiness, but they're all fairly unique too.

I wouldn't say it's a "closed" group, but you will see a lot of the same names over and over again, not just in RPGs but in all videogames, not to mention cartoons, animated film and really anything that involves voice acting.

Distinctive voices, or actors who can do many voices, like John DiMaggio, are in extremely high demand.

Plaintiff yea I notice that a lot in cartoons. IMO Dana Snyder is god of voice actors I'd love to see him more.

And if you guys can keep thinking of other Skryim characters give a quick post, I'm still playing it. Would be cool to run into another few. I think I may have killed the Thalmor Ambassador, not sure. Those guys are ****s. Gaw I gotta get that solstheim dlc, there's no place in Skyrim for a dark elf except the poor house!

The only one that comes to mind is the voice of Ysolda (and many others). She was Ariane in Witch Hunt.

I've just found out that Jennifer Hale was Lutece in BioShock Infinite. So these VAs are practically all over the place. And good thing too, they deserve the jobs.

But no one can match Sir Patrick Stewart the Emperor in Oblivion....

BioWare sort of branched out by hiring scifi actors a lot in the since the mid-2000. It's like they tapped out the voice actor pool and expanded it. There are also voice actors they really like, but it might be because they live in the area (*cough*Mark Meer*cough*).

ACTUALLY, while Jon Curry (Zevran) is in Skyrim, he's the "MaleEvenTone" which is not the Khajiit, and most definitely not Kesh the Clean (I think all the Khajiits are played by someone else -- none that I have heard have the MaleEvenTone).

Marcurio in the Bee and Barb (Rifton) is voiced by Zevran if you want an example of the voice. It's higher pitched than his Zevran voice, and I actually didn't even recognize it until someone pointed it out.

ETA: Good call on Meredith.  I never placed that, but it IS her.  I have to admit that Gideon Emery (Fenris) being everywhere was a little jarring for me.  I like his voice, though.

And I'm glad you did Image IPB And I agree, Fenris' voice just demands attention ( no ****** )

Also, plus one to Qistina for mentioning Patrick Stewart. There was a lot to love, and hate I know it's not perfect, about oblivion but that just took me back. I'll throw in real quick, I think oblivion had the best story line in the series. Wish I had a PC to run it with updated graphics mods.

He doesn't voice the Khajiit? I could have sworn J'zargo sounds like Zevran.

I didn't think Stewart was very good in Oblivion. Strong aura of "I'm only reading this s[tuff] for the easy money". Which isn't unusual for the big name stars brought in as voice actors.

It's rather varied in the english versions, In my case (french) we have the same voice actors for nearly every game, for example Benoit Allemane makes the voice of every "wise man" in nearly every game, from Duncan in Dragon Age to Kain in the legacy of Kain series (since Soul Reaver).

It's rather funny to be honest I like it it feels like they're old friends

Or Sean Bean / Martin. Who dies.

Cross casting set aside, I'm always amazed at how those guys can deliver so differently from role to role, even within the same franchise. I mean, Stephane Cornicard is Riordan is Hubert. I still can't wrap my mind around that one, and that's just one example of many.

My quess is that there simply doesn't exist many only voice actors (as in actors that doesn't have another kind of job) and actors which is not proffessional voice actors tend to not have the same proffessionalism, so I guess that those few relatively good ones simply is in high demand.

Mostly the ones I've noticed are the ones you've noticed. Gideon Emery is basically every second or third Imperial you meet, which I don't mind, but I understand it drives some Fenris-haters nuts. Apparently a voice actor who played a character they don't like isn't allowed to ever work again or something.

Jon Curry, as someone said above, isn't the Khajiit, though I can understand the mistake! I could have sworn M'aiq was him at first. He's got a chameleon voice, however, so it can be hard to recognize who he actually plays. He's Malborn, for example - the Bosmer from the main quest line bit with the Thalmor embassy.

Umm, others... Vex's actress, Kari Wahlgren, did a few voices in DA:O, and I think that's all I know.

Perhaps not too relevant to the topic, but, Lelianas voice actor voices a quest NPC in The Secret World, lol.

I always get a bit "proud" when I recognize a voice actor in another game/animated series or something and can pinpoint what character they are playing in that previous game/series, especially if they are using a slightly different voice. Most resently, a few days ago I recognized Laura Bailey as Serana is Skyrim - Dawnguard, which is basically the same voice as Kira Carsen i SWTOR.
