I've just found out that Jennifer Hale was Lutece in BioShock Infinite. So these VAs are practically all over the place. And good thing too, they deserve the jobs.

She also played Commander Palmer in Halo 4.

Really?  Which Bioware games did they appear in? The only ones I know of is Marina Sirtis (Benezia, Mass Effect 1) and Kate Mulgrew (Flemeth DA:O and DA:2)

I know some of them have done other games:

Micheal Dorn (Marcus, Fallout: New Vegas, Atreides Mentat, Emperor: Battle for Dune)

Patrick Stewart (Emperor Tiber Septim, Oblivion)

René Auberjonois (Mr House, Fallout: New Vegas)

Armin Shimmerman (Quark from DS9) played roles in Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3

Playing Guild Wars 2, I kept hearing Fenris all over the place as minor Sylvari NPCs. Steve Blum was in the Charr area, both as a major character and I think some minor NPCS as well. And Felicia Day was a rather bratty member of the token small quirky race, which suited her voice quite well. And now I've returned to SWTOR for a while and each time my Imperial Agent opens her mouth, it's Sarcastic Hawke reborn. I believe the female Trooper is FemShep too.

Oh yeah, it was interesting hearing Hawke as the Imperial Agent, which I think was a perfect role for her voice. I played my Hawke as very nice and my Imperial Agent as quite ruthless, so it was fun hearing her take a different tone. I liked her fake American accent at the beginning of SWTOR too.

I'll have to keep an ear out for Felicia Day -- I didn't realize she was in GW2 (haven't really played the Asura though).

I believe Felicia Day plays Zojja, so you'd have heard her if you've done much stuff with Destiny's Edge.

If the characters return, then they will probably have the same actor, yes (not always, like with Anders, but usually).

It sounds like Kate Mulgrew is going to be back, Andraste's blessings.

I'm really, really sad that Nick got stuck with Hawke and his canceled expansion. It's a damn shame that we probably won't be hearing him in the future (at least for any role of significance in DA).

I wouldn't feel too bad for him. He's had other Bioware work since DAII, not to mention other games and also some live-action acting on TV. He's doing pretty good.

I did like his voice for male Hawke, though.

I don't feel bad for him; I feel bad for me.

I want him to voice my character again, and now he can't. :(

Gideon will probably only get bit parts (if anything) in the DA series now too, since his voice is so distinct.

I like to play "name that VA's other roles" when I play video games or watch cartoons, since some of them seem to overlap (Jennifer Hale and Grey DeLisle come to mind). Also I swear that the guy who voices Cyborg in Teen Titans is also almost every non-white male I've come across in SWTOR. And I get Fenris yelling at me (and usually attempting to murder me) every time I play Skyrim or one of the Uncharted games.

I'm hoping that Laura Bailey voices someone in DA3. She has a nice voice; Female Voice 1 is my favorite one to use in Saints Row 3 and Kira Carsen and Serana are my favorite companions in their respective games in part because they're the most pleasant to listen to. For me, anyway.

Gideon's voice feels so jarring when he's just a minor/reused voice in a game. I love his voice, it's so distinct; as a minor character (like Imperial male 1 in skyrim), it feels like you get pulled from the game. It's easy to write off all the over voices in Skyrim, none are particularly good or distinct, but hearing Gideon, you're like 'Yeah, they reused this guy a lot'. As an actual plot character however, he's a very good VA (Fenris being one of the very few people i like in DA2).

Anyway, as for video game VA's in general, i feel that there is a lack of really good VA's, which means these really good ones get to fill a lot of roles: Nolan North, Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, Jennifer Hale, Steve Blum. These guys appear in a lot of Video games, and for good reason.

Yes, it is. Not that much work out there and there isn't an easy fallback for those who go a while without work in the way that, say, actors can model for a bit. Those interested in voice acting tend to be either succesful or in another line of work.

Just be grateful the English language VA community is one of the largest out there. And if you can't be, then try listening to dubbed Disney movies in Dutch. Same 10 actors. Every. Friggin. Time. English has practically unlimited choice by comparison.

Technically, Raphael Sbarge (*Carth Onasi: KOTOR, KOTOR II  *Scorch: SW: Republic Commando *Kaidan Alenko: ME, ME2, ME3... and others... including cartoons and live acting! Once Upon A Time, and in at least one episode of every major tv show in the last 20 years) was in about 5 episodes of ST: Voyager... so he could be considered a Star Trek actor.

I have heard a lot of the same voices across multiple games. Did anyone else notice that Brynn (Jacobs girlfriend in ME3) is the same voice as female Hawke? I have played female Hawke and female Shepard in all of my many playthroughs of both games and it's a strange experience hearing the two voices talking to each other.

I'm a huge fan of good voice acting and I love spotting familiar voices, so yes, I like it. That's one thing I was dismayed about in Skyrim -- they've got Gideon Balthier Fenris Emery and they let him voice a bunch of random Imperials? Hell no. I second the love of Jim Cummings as well, he's been among my favourites since Baldur's Gate.

Indeed, I was actually hoping that gaurd would recognise me as one of Fenris' fans and help me at Helgen... alas, it was not so.

It isn't a bad thing, at least, not in the gaming industry where the voices behind the characters are faceless. I've seen Diablo III being played by Gix, I would have never have guessed that Jennifer Hale was Leah. She's also a Powerpuff girl too!

A woman with that talent deserves the job. At least she can sound different (unlike Nolan North who stands out like morning wood in every game he's been. Don't get me wrong, the man is brilliant, but his voice can be distinguished from his grunts alone.)

Just figured I'd step into the ring here given the fact that I too am a voice actor. In my experience, the only "closed group" that exists in the industry are the anime dubbers and the loop groups. People in the anime industry don't get a lot of work outside of it because anime characters require more over-the-top performances. And then loop groups get paid almost the same salary and royalties as the main actors, so they're not keen on letting those they don't know in.

Video games are interesting though. It has similar pay and perks to animation work, but the acting more realistic like you would find in film. You have next to no prep time, but it's so bloody fun to record. I've only worked two or three video game gigs and it is already my preferred corner of the industry. Many of my friends feel the same way. I wouldn't consider video games actors a "closed group," I'd just say that they're just much more fun to work.

Bad idea. That woman makes Femshep with Jacob sound professional.

Have you seen any of her Twi tweets? *shudders*
