OTOH, that's fair enough. I happen to wish to kill Qunari just for being Qunari. It's only fair if they're just as hostile the other way around.

Vashoth, means gray in qunlat. These are the people who forsake the qun and their role in it, and go off to live their lives the way they see fit. Normal everyday folks who just don't want to be part of the system.

Tal-vashoth, means true gray in qunlat. People who decide that rather than simply leave the qun, they want to violently oppose it, resorting to raiding merchants, killing qunari, and generally acting like bandits.

Please do try to learn the difference between the two.

Sure, I do. Check my post history. So far, I think I've spent my short time at BSN trading arguments with people. That takes an ability to listen to them as well.

When it comes to Qunari lore, I just hate it. I don't merely disagree. It's way beyond that. There's nothing you could do to change that. There's no debate. There's no hope of "bridging any gap". Nothing :D

Of course, the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can ignore me. Don't cause yourself any stress trying to "get through" to me. It isn't happening.

"Lol, you're stupid"?

I'm wounded.

Have you guys honestly never met any hatred about this? You actually think the Qun deserves that much of a free ride? That people are supposed to be as tolerant as you expect? Is this how the Qun gets any followers? Appealing to people's tolerance?

Besides all that, aren't you roleplaying to an extent? Do you really believe everything about the Qun? Or are you in character? What if I'm in character too? If this was Thedas, you'd be hearing simlar things as my posts on a regular basis around most human cultures. Everything the Qun is is an assault on their way of life. Absolutely anathema to their being. There's a reason why there's been so many wars. It's an awful world, full of these type of polarizing differences. If we're all in character, then the last thing you can expect is tolerance. The only thing you should expect is people itching for a fight and who happily embrace the so called "struggle" that Qunari find problematic. We relish in hatred. Get used to it.

If we're not in character, then you're going to have to try a little harder. We don't even know each other. Not sure what being called stupid means from you, if you really mean it.

That is the dumbest stance I've ever heard. So your arguing with people in this thread about the qun but don't actually have any interests in talking about the qun at all or what it merits or downsides are, you just want to take a big **** on it and have no one comment about the big **** you've taken in the middle of a public forum or hear anyone else maybe have a opinion that didn't involving taking a dump on the qunari. Again, in the middle of a public forum that openly invites people to discuss topics in the forums secions very title.

Why don't you just make a "I HATE THE QUN!" group and go the hell away already?

It's the only stance I'll ever need to make. There are plenty of points I could make, and plenty that are already self evident. But all I have to do is get you to wonder why someone like me would be so hostile about it. This way you could ask those questions to yourself. If your only conclusion is that I'm merely stupid or taking a "dumb stance", then that's no loss to me either. No one is that simple, but if you want to think it, go right ahead. My existence doesn't revolve around earning the approval of a BSN member. For example, I need to finish eating a pot pie at the moment. That's more important. :)

Not really true. The poor and downtrodden get used to their lives, to the point where "salvation" feels like too much work and it's easier to stay in this comfortable place.

My personal experience there (along with the dozens I know and see on a regular basis).

I'm reminded of one time when i was sitting outside a hospital, waiting for a ride, and there was this old woman sitting next to me. She seemed to be in bad shape for some reason (emotionally), and was sort of pouting under her breath. I don't know what came over me, but I said she'd be alright.. or I asked her that. Something like that. And she looked at me, and asked... "Are you an angel?"

Needless to say, I was like "Huh?"

But there are people out there who wouldn't hesitate to say yes. Some live their whole lives selling themselves off as angels. And their first targets are people like this woman.

This is exactly what I was thinking about yesterday!

Also it seems that the "Qun Mania" is stronger than "Blood Mage Mania" these days!

Nothing's more entertaining then seeing armchair philosopher's argue. If only the rest of the world had it figured out as much as them, it would be a perfect place.

Kind of a redundant term. Pretty much all philosophers were "armchair".

Maybe Foucault and Aristotle are slight exceptions.

And socrates, despite the stick up his ass when it came to fiction.

Somehow I had missed this distinction. Thanks for opening my eyes! ^^

Btw, oh Dusk Shine-avatar'd one, have you ever realised how similar Equestrian society is to the Qun due to the cutie marks? Sure, the cutie mark is not assigned by a person like the tamassran, but once a pony finds their cutie mark they stick with their given role. They may change their exact job description, but they will always stay within the role their mark has given them.

The most effective distinction is that the cutie mark is something they're both good at and love to do. It's almost willingly that that thing is made their cutie mark. Unlike the Qun where "will" is nowhere near the question.

People tend to enjoy what they're good at. Hence I'm guessing you're probable to at least be able to stand - perhaps even greatly enjoy - whatever role you're assigned =)

It wasn't an attempt to wound you, it was a statement of fact, based on observation.

I'm pointing out your inherrent bias and gaping holes in your accusations, which you seem to disregard, while glossing over a myriad of issues in your own points.

I'm now picking holes in your position because it's stupid, you're getting criticism because your reasoning is poor. I'm not about to convert you to the Qun, either you see the failure in your arguments or you won't.

I don't consider it worth an intellectual conversation. I just want to fight.  It isn't of matter of stupidity. I'm here for the lolz. It's your own fault if you think differences like this revolve around mere stupidity. "To call a thing by its name is to know its reason in the world. To call a thing falsely is to put out one's own eyes."

You're not much of a Qun follower yourself for trying to urge more out of this. The Qun would tell you that I can't be anything other than what I am. My path is clearer than yours, it seems. I embrace the hate. And you're sitting around wasting time looking for justifications (both yours and mine). I suggest you try killing people like me instead. It's easier that way.

Mercenaries who don't focus their lives on attacking the Qun are also considered Tal-Vashoth; in fact, they're considered even worse, because the bandit ones actually have something of a role as an adversary. The mercenaries have no role at all because they accept pay. In fact, I suspect that anyone who accepts money for work (because it's considered "selling themselves") is considered an honorless pariah who can be killed at will. It's just the mercenaries who are seen as this most often, as soldiers have the most opportunity to leave.

Correct. He explicitly calls Meeras a walking insult. It didn't matter if he left the Tal Vashoth. In the Arishok's mind, the only honorable thing left Meeras could do was die.

OTOH, it seems like they tried to reverse this stance with Talis a bit. Suddenly having "doubt" is a virtue. I don't know what to make of that. I think she's sugarcoating it. The Arishok knows more about his ways than she does. I think she might be a bit like Sebastian (or hell, any companion). Full of conflicting beliefs, still wondering where to go..
