Contrary to popular belief, there is no 'default' romance path.

You mean, you don't have to romance anybody?

*gasp*

BLASPHEMY! CLEARLY THE WRITERS ARE FORCING LIARA ON ME!

Too bad anybody who didnt romance a squadmate is stuck with her and her flirting, no matter our distaste or disgust.

Yeah the one single Shep I had was pretty wtf. (not to mention my Steve mancer. If you romance Steve or Sam you're stuck with her too :X)

Least I could've gotten Garrus :crying:

So I started the Citadel DLC after the Udina Coup. I romanced Ash in ME1 and Miranda in ME2. I'm aiming for Ashley in ME3 and so far i've been pretty good to her. Yet surprise surprise, guess who showed up to ask if i'm having a bad day?

Yup everybody's favorite stalker, Liara T'soni.

Why is still up in my grill? How do I fix this? Should I reload my save and keep playing until I lock in my romance with Ashley at the cafe, or is this an issue with the game itself?

Wow. lol!! The devs will do anything to make Liara "the one". Oh yeah and don't invite Liara to your apartment. I had locked in my relationship with Kaidan but I thought I would be nice and invite Liara over since  I was inviting everyone else who wanted to see me. After our convo she mentions that she has a lot of work to do and should leave. There was a dialouge option to ask her to stay and bring her work over and I totally avoided that  by picking the second option. Then suddenly Liara was sitting on my couch and asking for her work to be brought up to my place.

Omg really? Why would that dialogue option even exists?

Yeah i'm sure Ashley would be thrilled at the prospect of another woman living in Shepard's aparment instead of her.

LOL!! I have no idea why the other option exist if she's gonna camp out anyway and it sucked cause i spent time with Kaidan before her and he didn't even stay. :crying:

Liara doesn't live with you, if she did I was be raging. lol!! You can leave your apartment and go somewhere else and she will be gone when you get back.

She's just looking to add another hangout to her collection of sweet cribs. The Normandy office, the Illium apartment, a gigantic stormship, and now Shepard's pad.

Girl's got needs, don't be hatin'.

I'm a Talimancer and I like Liara.

Only problem I have is it should of been your LI who checks on you after your nightmares instead of Liara. I really feel a lot of dislike over Liara is unneeded. The next ME game will likely have someone who people say is BW favorite and pushed on them.

I don't know why they didn't have, say, Garrus, check in on Shepard, but at least Tali has an excuse in that she isn't on the ship for most of the game.

For one, lots of players like Liara as much or as more as Garrus. If Garrus had been the mandatory squadmate and Liara had been the killable one, I have little doubt that players would be complaining about Garrus instead.

Another reason is that Liara simply comes off as the much more of the caring and nuturing type than Garrus. if the player is friends with both of them, I think checking on Shepard fits Liara a little better.

Another reason is the simple fact that Garrus can be dead.

If he was romanced I see no reason why he couldn't be the person to check on Shepard the second time. I'm not suggesting Liara should have just been changed out for any random squadmate, just that there are better options for some players.

If he was romanced, sure. But there's still a lot of players that don't romance Garrus.

Might have been best to have a dialogue option with Liara somewhere beforehand and have a positive or negative response. If the player is rude to her, EDI wakes Shepard up instead, but you miss out on the dialogue about Kaidan or Ashley.

Yeah I have no idea why Liara shows up and flirts with you by default if you didn't romance anyone on the ME3 squad. Fans complaining of too much Liara imposition? Impose moar Liara.

Because they had to have someone let new players know that "hey, this game has romances" and she just happens to be attracted to a Shep of either gender.

There's also the tiny factor of her being the only squadmate who was with you since the beginning that can't die until the very end.

People who play the Citadel DLC have likely already purchased and played ME3, and probably already know there are romances.

Besides, I was romancing someone and she still flirted with mah Shep.

And now they know "hey, you may want to load an earlier save and lock your preferred romance in first, since the game can't magically divine who you're really courting until you do. This DLC has romance-specific content and you're going to miss out."

And it was a lot cheaper to do this using Liara's already-recorded romance lines than to come up with a brand new way of saying it.

But I did lock my romance in.

You're saying Liara flirts with you because they couldn't afford to record a single line of alternate dialogue?

Romanced Liara in ME1 as she was prettier, cuter and had more interesting background than Ash. She adds some depth and soft touch to Shepard. Two military people would only go and have a rough sex tbh.

Still, during ME1 I wished to go with Tali and tried that in ME2 when annoyed by how Liara approached my Shep on Ilium (I mean... She seems to love him more than the galaxy, fought for him for more than two years, hoped to give him new life then still remains as a distant friend when they finally met? Didnt got it). I did whole Tali romance and liked it BUT something felt not right, like getting along with my own sister :) Also I couldn't stand her... feet, sry :P

But anyway, AFTER completing Tali scene, when Liara picture was turned upside down, right before taking on collector base I tried to talk to her again then she asked me to wait again and this time I refused which instantly re-triggered the Liara romance. I then played the Lair, my Shep fall in love with her again and they lived happily ever after when Commander blew Reaper asses to the other part of the galaxy in ME3.

Did anyone encounter similar bug? It was the one i liked though :)

All and all YES, I'm a Liaramancer, the more blue it gets, the better, as she seems the best throughout romance choice for my Shep with all the sweetness she brings along while being the most balanced as a character, not a overly attached sissy nor self-focused tough chick like Miranda or Ash either.

Liara was the first romance in ME for me and the only problem I have is the really weird distancing she goes through in ME2 and ME3. I mean, she gives Cerberus your body in the hopes of bringing you back and the amount of actual relationship talk in LotSB and ME3 is pitiful considering how much other dialogue she has.

Try not to look at it as flirting. At that point Shepard is supposed to be soaking wet, so just pretend she's poking fun at that. This way, Liaramancers can go "Oh, how naughty!" and NonLiaramancers can shrug it off as a bit completely platonic ribbing.

I dunno. Could work.

The actual line isn't terribly flirty at all. Definitely more a matter of delivery.

The distancing in ME2 isn't weird at all. Shepard died and Feron, probably her best friend at that time (didn't read any comics) got killed because of her, at least that's what she believes at that time. She had been alone for half a century and was pretty happy with it, now she recently opened up to relationships and the two most important people in her life immediatly get killed. Now she spent two years in a business where you can't trust anyone, her own assistant being the best example. Of course she'd hesitate to open herself up again. Of course she can't pretend that nothing happened, Shep's back and it's all good again. Of course it's difficult.

That's true. Maybe they were trying to find a tonal middle ground, so it could be interpreted differently by both parties. Why they would do that instead of just recording another line is the issue, I guess.

I'd prefer to believe they just fucked up, rather than believe they're trying to force a Liara agenda.

Must be Shepard's wishful thinking. He/she must have configured Liara in the translation VI to "flirty",

I can't stand any of those snotty, arrogant blue Seamonkeys.   Liara has the brass to complain about the Alliance not providing Air support on Thessia?   After the Asari left our butts hanging in the wind through most of the game while sitting on the answer to the catalyst?    (I turned around and emptied my assault rifle into her for all the good it did me.    Needless to say I would have left her in her room for the whole game if I had been given the option.

Yeah, the whole shuttle ride to Thessia is annoying. When she says; "My people are dying down there" and wants Shep to save them , I just want to scream. What the heck does she think the people back on earth are doing? Having a spring picnic with rainbows and bunnies? I wish I could've kicked her out of the shuttle.
