I backed up my dragon age folder before I upgraded, and have since re-installed the game. Now, what do I have to do so that I can access all my stuff within the game (pictures, save files, pre-releaded characters etc)?
Just installed windows 7

copy it back to where you took it from (documents). Hang on - which folder did you back up? The save files etc are in My Documents, not in Program Files. Save files etc are stored in Documents/Bioware. The folder should be there if you installed the game. Just overwrite the Bioware folder with the one you backed up.

I just overwrote the Dragon Age folder with the one I backed up, and now the game won't start up.

You installed the game...then took a Copy of the Program Files folder and replaced it?
No wonder it messed up...
The save files are in the My Documents area...if you copied Just the Dragon Age folder in the Program file section...then you probably lost your saves...sorry...
Do fix the game from not starting...reinstall it...as you messed it up by copying over the files.

OK, I've backed up my dragon age folder, it has everything in it. I just uninstalled dragon age, now, before i install it again, what exactly do I need to do? What do I put where?

The only folders you really need to worry about are your character folders, (where your saves also are), screenshots and your mods, if you have any.
Character folders would be found in/pasted into Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Characters Each character has a seperate folder with their name; inside it are your saves, your character stats, and portrait image.
Screenshots are in Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Screenshots
If you made characters with the Character Creator program (not the one in game, the one they released weeks before Dragon Age), those are under Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Pre-release Characters
Any mods you have should be pasted into Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/packages/core/override

That worked. Ahh, but now, i can't access my DLC, I redownloaded it all, but still when i go to load my save, i only have the option to force load or cancel. How do i fix this?

Ack, meant to check on this thread earlier in case you needed more help. Got caught up in my own Dragon Age game fiddling, heh.
Glad you figured it out, though. Happy gaming and enjoy your new operating system as well!
