Forgive me but I have to ask, do you even play the same DA games as I do? Both have great stories but however you look at it, they make you kill people/creatures and so on, hence the pacifist attitude won't work. Storywise, the times are harsh, many fend for themselves and try to survive, threat is everywhere so no wonder that paranoia and polarized attitudes are omnipresent. In both games you are surrounded or actively recruit professional killers, some with very loose interpretation of morality. That is why I am surprised that you have jumped on one guy who is in no way more original than the rest.

Anyway, I must admit that your posts are quite disturbing. You seem more concerned with bashing a character than having a discussion with his fans. And to address some of your concerns, I never found Cullens fmage crush disturbing, I have no idea how the potential rape came into equation. As for his mental state and attitudes displayed after the events of the Broken Circle, I found them believable considering his experiences, but I am far from applauding them.

Templars are supposed to kill Blood Mages on the spot rather than bringing them back to the Circle, Cullen allows Alan to head back to the Circle at Hawke's request. The "right thing" would be to kill Alan, he'd be doing his duty to the Templar Order, something which he idealizes.

In addition, he informs Hawke and Aveline about where the complaints against Aveline is coming from and allows you to deal with them, not anything he'd have to do but does anyway because he values Hawke as a friend. He could've just let Meredith waltz into the guards and take over.

Hell, he's rather polite when he picks up Bethany to send her to the Circle of Magi.

Cullen represents the "right" Templar, one who does his duty and allows his prejudices to not taint him completely. Hell, he doesn't want you to execute the surrendering mages if you side with the Templar at the end of the game and even stands up to Meredith before the final confrontation.

Actually, retconned would be more of a "we've found a better way to utilize this character / plot line" but go on with your bad self. If you're feeling personally targeted as a gamer then maybe there are deeper issues for you to explore that Thedas is not qualified to handle.

As for having Hawke clear up matters he cannot... well what's your point? Sometimes big people have to let others do what they are unable to do themselves, not out of lack of character but rather work ethic or outside influences. If Hawke was able to take care of business then great!

I respectfully disagree completely. If they - the writers - have found another use or pathway for a character then I say go for it and mix it up a bit. It just makes my game experience more interesting.

To be fair, I think only Merrill was Welsh. Maker knows why. I've decided to head cannon that the Dalish are a melting pot since they all seem to mysteriously have different accents. And maybe shoes are just a Ferelden (or Keebler) thing. I didn't notice if the Orlisian elves were barefooted.

and they went from looking like short humans with pointy ears to having huge eyes and an awkward carriage. I smell a conspiracy.

You'll have to be  more specific. Earlier I believe it was mentioned that David Gaider has called Cullen "a good man" and you said something to the effect that you don't believe what the writers say. Personally I didn't mind the new look too much aside from the nose.  It just looks.....wrong.  I think that's what contributed the most to them looking like one of their ancestors was a horse.

The main ones looked ok I think.  Merrill, Fenris, Marethari.  But the generic ones were really off.
