The Maker is the supposed God of the world of Dragon AgeImage IPB.  However, is it not possible to be a sort of powerful mageImage IPB that has prolonged his life through rituals unknown.  Think of it like the Emperor of Mankind (Warhammer 40kImage IPB).  But what do you think?
Please write your opinion and why you think said opinion.
Cheers

I think it could be possible that the maker was indeed a mage. It was said that he was the original creator of the fade. However, a demon has said "there is no maker". I would think that if a demon who came from the fade said it, that it must be true.

Either way, the chantry does many good things and the teachings mean well.

If there was a Maker, I'd assume there isn't anymore.

Like Rage Machine quoted, a demon has said there isn't a Maker. There are plenty of reasons for a demon to lie about such a thing, but it -is- a demon. It is indigenous to the Fade. You'd think it knows what it's talking about.

Well, your making it sound bad. Let me put it this way, a demon has no reason to lie. Demons as i have actually seen are very truthful. They may not have good intentions, but they let you know that very clearly. They are honest about what they want to do and they feel no threat from doing so.

I'd believe it. There's no reason not to.

This is, of course, after agreeing it could possess my soul, forever sealing my body's fate to roam around endlessly stealing the pantaloons of nobles because that is what it chooses to do with its life.

Obviously, the Maker is David Gaider, who cloaks himself in the form of Sandal to watch over our characters whilst at camp.

The Maker is obviously Gaider. :D

Seriously though, I don't think there actually was one. I think it all started with a small cult that gradually grew until many people believed it was all true.

Edit: Blast. I've been ninja'd on the Gaider comment. lol

I can just imagine some epic quest in the nearby future requiring the aid of the Maker itself.

You'd finally make your way into the Inner Sanctum, the Seat of the Maker!  Your quest would have neared completion.

Only to find a buggy hologram of the Bioware company building in its midst, along with a small Starbucks booth.

Bioware is Canadian.....they obviously would have a much superior Tim Horten's booth instead of a Starbucks.

Its hard to explain

but Maker is good while Chantry is evil

Maker is powerful mage.Master of primal, creation, spirit, entropy and much more

With creation he has create everything

With primal he set world

With spirit he gave us connection to fade and him

With entropy he gave us fellings and end our lives

People, world and everything was created.People belive in him and pray to him.Best and most intelligence were awarded with magic so they can lead us.But lust for power has slowly poison hearts of those men and they became corrupted.Mages of Tevinter Imperium were no longer good lords. They became evil and start to enslave people, using their blood to fuel their hunger for more power. They wanted to rule over all that breath and live. They wanted to become gods. They use life force of many slaves to break into gold city. They were cast out, twisted and cursed by their own corruption.Maker has cursed them and they became the first darkspawn. All 7 tevinter archmages were now archdemons and all other tevinter mages were transformed into darkspawn.World was free.

After Tevinter fall free people cursed all mages and mages were unwelcome. They locked them in towers and create a special order of warriors to watch over them(Templars).Chantry(free people/tyrants) has began an agressive campaign against all those who posses magic gift. Those who refuse they called blood mages(People feared them) and kill them. Those who escaped from towers were apostates.Makes was furius. He awaken darkspawn and they awaken old gods. That was his punishment.

I figure it's probably a very powerful and largely benevolent spirit of some kind, like the one that's helping Wynne.

If that's the case, I hope Bioware doesn't draw inspiration from someone like Dr. Manhattan.

Large. Blue. Hovering in a criss-cross meditative stance. His manhood swaying in the imaginary breeze.
