I dunno, I cannot seem to meta game the next mass effect. Stuff pops up for me, then falls away, as story lines gather. What could be so very important in the next, er, well... new systems?

We already have Mass Effect in another galaxy, it's called KOTOR.

New protagnist(s), races, plot, conflicts etc.

Discuss.

Pretty sure the old protagonist, races, plot, conflicts etc is why we love Mass Effect.

How would you feel if that horrible ending happened in a completely different galaxy? I know I would enjoy that. Let some other galaxy suffer.

dislike being unable to play a human

Different galaxy = no humans

Unless they are going with the Noah's Ark/2012/Pandorum idea I offered a while back

I would say I don't care until they fix the ending(s) of ME3? It is really the universal answer to everything BioWare these days. So Zen.

They won't

And apparently being honest with your customers is bad policy these days...

Anyways on a fun note EA partnershipped with MS, what does that mean for ME fans?

In which case, is it even worth calling Mass Effect anymore?

@crimzontearz: Hey, I didn't say BioWare would. But as long as they don't, they are saving me lots of money on their products!  Haven't purchased anything else from EA either......Image IPB  It might not be hurting them but it sure is helping me stay away from their nonsense.

@ massively: yes, if they do it like Pandorum you would have ALL races in another galaxy and the possibilities would be limitless

@ Kal I only want honesty and open dialogue....so far no one at BW does that (minus one)

I guess it just comes from a difference in the idea of what Mass Effect is.

I'd rather it be set in the universe we have, not a sort of spin-off place from millennia ago.

I'd rather further explore the ME universe of the Milky Way, but it wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me if it offered a solid and good story with great characters and exciting gameplay.

Why not just make a new IP? I love new IPs. New IPs are an endangered species.

Why wouldn't it be Mass Effect? The actual mass effect that makes all the guns and ships and tech would be discovered and widely used in that universe too which of course means biotics would exist in that galaxy too because in-utero eezo exposure would still happen, mass relays (or something that does pretty much the same thing) could still be invented there too, an omni-tool equivalent could exist there too, it would still have Bioware plot structure and dialogue wheels, still have all the gameplay and classes ME does, would still largely be about space and the galactic community... It would still be ME as long as it takes place in the same universe with the same rules. You'd just be upset your favorite race is gone. A new IP would not be the same because it would be lacking all of this.

Personally, I would be for it.

No but really when I made this thread I started to realize that ME taking place in another galaxy wouldn't make sense considering Relay technology being available in more places than just the milky way doesn't fit lore.

I love the idea.
Sounds great to me.

Any idea that involves "more Mass Effect" is always going to win me over (unless it's an iPhone/Android game, because I don't play on mobile phones).

New Galaxy. My level of excitement has been greatly increased!
That is an epic idea.

I'm not soured by the endings, but people who are probably won't be purchasing Mass Effect 4 if it's set after Mass Effect 3 in the same galaxy. But a different galaxy. Maybe they'll be on board.

Still I can't really speak for them. I can speak for myself.

I'm still on board for more Mass Effect.
I'm on board for more Dragon Age
I'm on board for classic Bioware games (that I haven't purchassed yet)
I'm on board for the new Bioware IP.

Is it safe to say I'm a Bioware fan?

No, because as some other people stated here, there wouldn't be any sense.

The game Intro really made clear:

The civilizations of the Galaxy call it: MASS EFFECT

Also, why would they do that? They have a lot more to explore in the MEU, not just post Mass Effect 3 Ending.

Uh... Why? If it's in the same universe, it has the same laws of physics. The laws of physics that make mass effect and eezo tech work will be in all galaxies, just as gravity and solar radiation will be in every galaxy of our universe. Or is it that you think that it's impossible for them to have worked out how to build something that works like a mass relay on their own? If the Leviathans and Reapers figured it out, any civilization will too given enough time. And considering the mass effect is what the series is named after and not the actual races in the series, having mass effect tech will make it a Mass Effect game regardless of which galaxy it's in.

You asked a good question with this thread, now you're backpedaling from that good question and into nonsense:pinched:.

Yeah, they might call it something else... But it would still be the mass effect. If another civilization called gravity "wodoo effect", would it not be gravity anymore because the name is different? No.

By the way, "MEU" stands for Mass Effect Universe. Not Mass Effect Galaxy, Mass Effect Universe. Which means you just said that more of the universe itself has more to explore, not just a tiny galaxy within that universe. So you're pretty much siding with the idea while being against it. That does not make sense.

Oh, right. Sorry about the MEU. I actually refered to the universe we have in Game, not all of the Universe, which in this case is the galaxy. Thanks for clearing that up :)

Thing is, I agree. I agree that there is more to explore in the universe of Mass Effect, but I mean in literal sense to as well as they way you meant. Which is why ME4 being in another galaxy would be fine by me, because that would still be in the MEU both literally and metaphorically. Which is why I really don't get everyone saying it wouldn't be ME or that it should be a new IP. I mean, really? If it's in the same universe then everything besides the Milky Way species would still be there even in the different galaxy.

An alternate Mass Effect universe, with no Reapers, no Leviathan and no Catalyst, just the Citadel and the Mass Effect races, that might work.

Or a Mass Effect story set a thousand years in the future with NO mention of the ending of the Reaper War, that would work too.
