(or if what we see of them is actually female! What a twist~)

I was considering that actually, the same notion as LotR dwarves, easily mistaken.

They look akin to spiders (the submission net is also taken into account) I would assume they have females, who we haven't seen yet, but again... Since it was apparently to costly to simply put in a note on the species genders; I will never really know.

If we're following the spider motif the females may be two the three times larger than the males. They may also eat the males.

The thing about the ME universe is while it's diverse, it's very true that we're "Anthropocentric bags of dicks" in our interpretations of alien species. Only time I've seen even a half plausible explaination for humanoid species was oddly enough Star Trek TNG. Anyways, I'd love to see some slightly less anthropomorphized thinking in regards to ME4.

Do those exist? (Honest question.) I've never seen the lore for Batarian genders. If they have them, if they are Asexual, etc.

They are the male asari.

Seriously or joke?

Because I don't even think they had Batarian females in the ME novels.  Could have missed it though.

There was at least one female Batarian in the novels, IIRC. The first one, where Anderson and Saren have to stop some Batarian arms dealer or something. The female Batarian secretary was the mole that let someone in to her company (and later ends up dead for it) near the end of the book when everything blows up and goes to pieces, leaving Saren to frame Anderson for it and stop him from becoming a Spectre.

Kinda kills the giant batarian dryder who eats males all day idea I had. Ho hum.

She seems hardy, I like her.

You've been giving me good examples and bad examples (I thank you).
But the important factor to consider with each example is: time.
Your best example yet, has been Aveline.
She is both a recent character and done with justice.
(Not that all females should be wearing pants, and swinging swords. It's just that more often than not we are given Tom-boy-ish characters who still happen to fall victim to eventual absence, or 50CCs of sex appeal.)

I'll be blunt though; I've never touched DA:2 and I'm likely not going to.
(Expectations of gameplay were lowered.)

There are good examples if you're willing to look for them. The issue is not that they don't exist, it's that for every one that, there are half a dozen that are bad examples.

I'd also have to call out the notion that the women in Mass Effect are simply there to "shake their ass and get on the bed".

You mainly talk about camera angles showing off the character, but only Miranda's really does that. I'll also throw in ME3 EDI because that's just ridiculous in every way.

A character like Tali though? Maybe once or twice, but the game isn't constantly trying to show me her backside or chest, despite the fact that she does have a very form fitting outfit.

Or good old Kasumi. A thief in tight leather with a hood isn't exactly an odd design to show me her ass. The master thief himself from the Thief series, Garret, uses this style too.

It would be interesting to see FEMBATS portrayed in a vicious, cold, and frightening manner such as that. (Modern day cannibals) However I can't help but feel as though it would be played down. Sentient species and spiders basic nature would be conflicting. I can imagine that maybe females/males eat one another if they are put in survival situations, or as some vengeance deal, but not as a typical daily occurrence. XD (Though now I've got some fairly interesting mental images that will no doubt contribute to further lack of sleep in the future. Maker! Maybe we don't see BAT females because they all got eaten! )

That still leaves out the Drell, Hannar, Elcor and Volus.

While it's fairly easy to grasp what a female drell might look like, I have to wonder  if all Hanar/Elcor look the same regardless of gender.

No doubt. ST(TNG) was one of the better treks for exploring logical theories.  IMO

Indeed, But this is BSN and my gripes are with the Mass Effect ladies treatment.

There was pretty much three or four females on the Normandy you could not have sex with.  As opposed to the multiple males on board who were not candidates for such activities.
Even the machine who seemed female was given an upgrade to shake her ass. You couldn't get on the bed with her; but she was certainly a prime example of 'eyecandy'.
(While there are a lot of female concepts who contribute to the eyecandy factor I can only think of one that fits the stereotypical male eyecandy factor; Vega. Lovingly refereed to by me as 'Donkey Kong'.
I have been mentioning other issues regarding the treatment of female concepts. Maybe not in this particular batch of quotes, but you are free to look beyond one of my posts.

By contrast to other characters who were male, the female characters were not shown at all or shown as someone to lay with. Or want to lay with.

Thank you for that confirmation.
It doesn't exactly paint a picture in my head of what they are supposed to look like. . .
But it helps knowing that they do in fact have gender opposites.

Your point isn't all that clearly defined, so it's hard for me to point out good examples within Mass Effect. What about Liara, Tali, and Kasumi?

I'm trying to figure out what exactly your problem is with most of the Normandy ladies, or if you even have issues with them at all, but rather that there weren't more men you could get in bed.

Also, I'm pretty sure Kaiden wasn't walking around shirtless for a third of the game for my benefit =P

I think there is a short description of appearance in the actual book... IIRC, basically looks a lot like the men... but I don't know for sure since I'm at work at the moment and the book is at home. I will double-check it for you, though, when I get home tonight and post the description (if there is one). Posted Image

No worries, you can make it up if there isn't. It'll be more fun anyways. :P

Same could be said for many of the male characters, they have the typical over exaggerated masculine physique.

This

That was pretty good.
But I like this better

I liked that. I think it described some of my thoughts about this subject. Much better than I can, as I am completely failing to summarise it here.

It does sometimes seem that for games the thought process for a male central character goes something like "OK he's a soldier, so he needs to look big, strong and tough," while for a female character "OK she's a woman, make her sexy," and once that's done they start to think about maybe tailoring them a little to their actual role. So, err, yep, watch the video instead of my poor explanation. :)
As disccussed, ME3 MP is not the worst offender at this by a long shot. Most of the regular human character models look fairly reasonable to me, but the Asari and some of the female N7s are beginning to take the mick. Cerberus are pretty bad thinking about it, though. Assault Troopers, Centurious, Guardians, Engineers, all male, all wearing bulky, appropriate-seming armour. Nemeses, Phantoms are female so get catsuits and high heels!

The war broke out suddenly, and all the Commandos were celebrating holiday at Azure at the time.

Think about it.
