Well, that's how my Shepard and Miranda build credibility for it
Though Cerberus was always more appealing to me than the council or alliance.

As much as I would love for it to be Tali, I know the best path is to not have a romance at all. Fans will already be ticked off with a Shepard that isn't their ideal gender Shepard, but add a romance on top of that, and you might as well sit back to watch the fire grow.
Not to mention a Shepard that doesn't make the same decisions or choices.
Hell a Shepard that chooses Synthesis?
As much as I would love to see Liaramancer shep ether sex I agree that no romance is the best choice for a movie.

The best thing a Mass Effect movie can do is not get made.

I've no interest in a film canonizing someone else's Shepard.
Isn't the Mass Effect universe big enough to focus on somebody else?
****g cosigned. There is absolutely ZERO reason to tell Shepard's story in a movie. We've got the First Contact War as an easy option, or there could be something about human-batarian animosity. Or, hey, bold idea, something we HAVEN'T already seen, something new and original, something to solidfy a movie as its own contribution to the universe. Sadly, they seem to be blindly devoted to the idea of retelling what everyone's played.
Which, and I know no one's asked for my opinion, but screw it, is a MISTAKE. Shepard is so many things to so many people, no one who has played the games will be satisfied and anyone coming in will assume that the movie shows what is 'supposed' to happen. One of the things that the entire series was built on was the idea that WE were the ones deciding Commander Shepard's story.
And my money's on the movie having mShep/Liara. It's a relationship that they can hold to through all three games, because there's going to be a developer's assumption of 'if ME1 adapted to the silver screen is successful, we'll do ME2 and 3 too.' Adjusting ME2's plot to include Liara wouldn't be difficult - either she replaces Samara in the crew (cuz we all know ME2's squad would be cut down) or the Shadow Broker somehow is involved in the Collector's plot and she joins the crew. And taa-dah, we have a series long romance.

If you seriously think Pocahontas and Avatar are the same you obviously haven't even seen the damn movies.
And yes, I really hope the ME movie dies in production.

They will do Liara, even though I will hate every second of it.
As Mass Effect movie is a terrible idea unless they do a story completely unrelated to the games. There is no possible combination of choices that will not ****** off the majority of played. I did the math, and just using gender, alignment, and romance with the most popular chosen for each, they would still ****** off over half the fanbase.
That and there is no possible way to ever tell Mass Effect 2's story (assuming they get past ME1) in a single movie. Even in a best case cenerio where it is split into two 2-1/2 hour movies, you still have 12 characters you need to recruit and then have loyalty missions for. Lets assume they spend 20 min on Shepard's death, resurection and freedoms progress, 15-20 minutes on horizon, 15-20 min for the collector ship and the dead reape, and 20-30 min for the suicide mission, leaving 3 and a half hours for character. This would still only give 17.5 minutes for each charatcer's recruitment and loyalty missions. As a result, you would need to probablt cut character and focus on those that will play the biggest role in ME3 (Tali, Garrus, Mordin, and Legion), which will only serve to anger even more fans.

I've always hated Ashley, but if a movie was ever made, I could almost guarantee that she'd be the LI.
Miranda... breaks too many rules of the Hollywood woman to really be considered by Hollywood as any more than a fling. And all other romances for aliens would just not have the draw as a human LI and Ashley is the only real choice. I don't agree with it, but that's sadly the case.
In the games though, I think Miranda is the most popular human LI amongst male Shepards. I remember she was third, after Tali and Liara.
Whatever happened to the Tali-mancer's anyway? The really weird ones?

Tali fans were supposedly so rabid that BW put Tali in the game as a squadmate in fear of pissing them off.
I can't really say much though as far as crazy fans go. We Miranda fans got the romance threads shut down (though I think that was a crappy decision to keep them closed).
In our defense though, the actual infighting had nothing to do with Miranda.

The thing about Bioware putting her as a squadmate seems kind of dumb though. She was a squadmate in the first two games.
I mean, I like Tali and she is always my LI in the games, but...yeah. Okay.

I don't know. Apparently, since I've been seeing a whole bunch of threads popping up over it in the last month, and since a list of crew working on the movie was put on imdb.
