Weird in what sort of way?
The Tali sweat ones, the Tali doll ones...
Tali fans were supposedly so rabid that BW put Tali in the game as a squadmate in fear of pissing them off.
I can't really say much though as far as crazy fans go. We Miranda fans got the romance threads shut down (though I think that was a crappy decision to keep them closed).
In our defense though, the actual infighting had nothing to do with Miranda.
Oh so YOU were the ones who got that forum locked? I joined to find it locked after playing ME3, and was just like;
"Ahahaha it finally happened, oh BSN!" So howd it go down? Do tell.
It started when a group of people (I'm not going to name names here,) who started the thread had idea's for the character that were unpopular, along with their general outlook. Theses posters were (and still are) also generally very condescending, basically enforcing their idea of what the character was and should be, as well as other aspects of the game. They made a lot of bold assumptions as to what the Miranda fanbase liked (it was really just them) and supposedly (this particular incident was a bit before I joined) left out a lot of material and artwork for a poster and artbook made by fans for BW to show their appreciation for Miranda, Yvonne Strahovski, and as a sort of showing that we were very passionate fans that wanted to see more Miranda in DLC. The material they (supposedly, again idk if this is true or not) left out was a large deal of what many fans had wanted so that they could slant the viewpoint of the fanbook to their own views. Several of the other fans made their own artbook and posters detailing what they wanted.
Now the reason you didn't find too many Miranda fans here really was because of these posters. They'd lurk a lot, and you'd get messages from some of them telling you how full of **** they thought these posters were. So in rides a new guy (with a Chicken avatar. I'm sure many of you know who I'm talking about). He pretty much gets really pissed at these people's interpretation of the character and their opinions of the game and life in general and it really escalates.
All this time, we also had to deal with near daily emotional meltdowns from one of the most.... obsessed fans of any fandom I've ever seen. This guy was basically an attention hog who wanted everyone to praise him and comment on his fan art, and when people criticized him (or asked him to stop posting, since he had a habit of constantly repeating his posts every day and using an absurd amount of emoticons).
Eventually all of it trickles into this big fight over interpretation of the game and character, and a separate Miranda thread is created. This thread hit almost 40 page in the first day, with many of the formerly disenchanted Miranda fans returning to the forums to be away from the other Miranda posters.
