Fun fact:

The free Prestige Edition I won at GamesCom for being one of the first 500 to attend the Activision CoD booth which would have made me a CoD player for the first time (I love free stuff!) is obviously not coming.

It seems as if Activision simply forgot to email all participants of that promotion. I mean, they have my adress, my email and therre was no slot to enter what system you want your free copy from, nevermind that it was supposed to be shipped straight from the US which takes a while.

And I still don't have any confirmation email as we were supposedly supposed to get and no one ever asked me for what system I wanted my copy, which in turn would again be a problem because I play on PC ... and in true hurr durr fashion ... there is no PC Prestige edition, brb.

Real smooth Activision, real smooth.

They have a place, and they do require practice.

You'll have to convince me then.

I recall maps getting smaller and smaller after MW2. I hate that, as I loved big maps that allowed me to move around more freely and have lots of potential directions to go. Later CODs did that horribly.

I agree. I liked Seelow and Wasteland because they actually punished players for running head-on like brutes (interesting in CoD). Is the full map list and overview for the actual game out yet, though?

Why on earth would you play CoD if you don't like tiny maps ?

The game is designed for ppl to be on top of each other. That's what makes it even more 'twitchy'

I don't like tiny maps, per se. I just wouldn't like it if they excluded the far, open ones.

Tiny maps aren't the problem. Terrible spawns on maps that are basically never-ending spawn-trap chokepoints are. Throwing in instantaneous air-strikes makes it even worse.

CoD was so much better when there were only 3 killstreaks that were reletively useful. People also didn't have to camp hard for them. They also wouldn't break or completely end rounds.

The tiny maps combined with the fast gameplay/movement, respawns, killstreaks and other gimmicks made me feel like a crackhead when I was out there.

Come to think of it, Wasteland was horrible in this regard. It was a large, wide-open map where the only protection was a couple of trenches and a house.

Chopper gunners and AC130s were IWIN buttons

Wasteland was my favorite map in MW2. I did well 95% of the time.

My most memorable CoD game ever was my 18-2 Search and Destroy on Wasteland against three of my friends and some randoms.

I have accepted long ago that I am not and never will be the target audience for FPS games with such settings, and I usually just don't comment on them at all, but I kinda want to make everyone involved in making this trailer play through Spec Ops: The Line, preferably in one uninterrupted session.

The Extinction mode -to which me and my friends only refer to as Call of Duty: XCOM- looks kinda appealing, though.

I know the feeling, "TheRealJayDee". I post in threads about games I have no interest in all the time.

Not every game has to be a genre deconstruction.

I actually don't, "Miscellaneous Mind". As I said I usually don't do that - 'twas about my first time. =]

And it's not even completely accurate, because obviously I was interested in the game to some degree, in that case a specific part of the marketing that I stumbled upon, didn't care for much and felt the need to comment on. Maybe I just shouldn't have, or at least done so differently. I was a little grumpy in general, and really didn't like the trailer (although it was really well done ^^).

Of course not, and I wasn't implying it should be like that. It's just that this trailer seemed to be representing so much of what The Line commented on that I couldn't help but mention it.

Fair enough. There is a connection.

IGN's review is in. They docked points because the maps are "too large" and game is "overly complex."

Well, release day.

Still no word about that Prestige Edition I won at GamesCom. Wootz ...

edit://
Apparently the word is GamesCom One of 500 winners will recieve a XBox360 Prestige Edition during the coming week.

Which is just as useless as I don't have a XBox and just double checked with my local GameStop to find out I can't even trade it in to get, say a couple steam wallet credits to buy the Digital Hardened Edition for PC on Steam (which would be 120 bucks for me, compared to the 199 bucks the PE is (theoretically) worth) as they don't deal with the special editions. If anything, I could trade the PE (if I ever get one, which is still on the rope as far as previous progression is concerned) for a bogstandard PC base game. Season Pass and everything else included would be wasted and requiring a repurchase if I ever wanted it for PC.

So far Activision is NOT making a good first impression. In fact it's pretty much confirming every bad kind of reputation it has pretty straightforward.

Thats how it is with CoD. Some will hate it, some will love it. Some will love to hate it, some will hate loving it.

Its CoD.

But given I haven't played one since the garbage that was MW3, I don't find myself in any particular need for it.

I'll stick to other franchises.

Haven't played CoD since the WW2 days.
