I can carry a team as well (the reason we lost was because I got sinckilled) but it's really frustrating to know that for all the work you're doing, these worthless scumsuckers are making the same creds you are and they aren't doing anything!"

Who had more fun? You killing stuff, or the people lying on the floor? Playing ME isn't actually gainful employment you know?

"Maybe, just maybe, someone will see this and implement a filter that bans people with level 1-5 weapons. There's a higher chance of it happening than if I just stopped playing."

I'm fairly confident GI with talon IV might be able to do ok.

Killing stuff is fun until it feels like work. And when you solo every wave, it becomes work.

If I wanted to kill things for the sake of killing them, I'd play solo. I play teams to play with TEAMS, not have them watch for 45 minutes.

And while a GI with Talon 4 might do good, the good PUGs I've played with always had level 10 weapons. I have yet to see anyone with lower level weapons do well.

I thought the evaluation thread had gotten you many friends?

And being as good as we know you are you should have no problem carrying baddies.

Also, there's a kick button, ya know?

Kick is majority based. If there are two garbage players in the lobby, you're out of luck and have to leave it.

This far in the game's life-span I'm happy to have someone to play with.

If I ever get one or two good randoms in my lobby, we usually agree to kick the obvious leechers. If they all are leechers I leave. And even that case is not the usual, not even on PS3, and that's much to say.

If they're just newbies I man up and pick a kit with high dps then proceed to carry the game.

I don't think pugs are that bad when you have the skills, and even then it's not that hard to find at least one good player to duo later waves with. But maybe that's just me.

I'm not yet at that level. I always beat PUGs in score but I'm not at the level of most people on this forum, so carrying is annoying for me.

this :wizard: but then again, when you get sync'd by accident on later waves, it's just painful to watch the rest players bleed out :?

I feel your pain in the last week or woof playing pugs, most on gold never equip any consumables, about 1/4 - 1/3 never even equip any bonus gear or equip gear totally useless or inappropriate for that build with respect to bonus gear. Most have leve 1 or level 2 weapons and 29% of them do not even put any weapon mods on. This makes no sense when some of them have a level 10 weapon but no weapon mods or bonus gear. Most never bother to use any consumables during a match. Some even leave if the die and bleed out or do so constantly as if it is your fault. I seen on that just stood there for the first five waves. I guess on bathroom break? Some who use missiles use them too early or on stupid things. Then again, I have taken level 1 builds into silver games with no gear but bonus gear and smoked players with full gear and level 20 characters. I wish if pugs go for gold they either have the skills to do so, use gear especially bonus gear, used consumables when needed ( it is not a waste to do so on gold) , took better weapons, or realize they are not prepared for gold yet.

Im still figuring out how you 'beat' someone in a co-op match. Too many variables make up the score.

True but when their score doesn't reach the first letter of their GT...

Tis a familiar scene to me.

It helps to have a "solo" mindstate when pugging. That way, your expectations of pugs won't flop as hard, and you'll be better prepared to clutch waves if you have to.

By "solo", I don't mean go total lone wolf and disregard teamwork altogether. It helps to synergize with teammates, but it also helps to use a class that you feel comfortable using and can hold your own with. After all, you can't help others if you can't help yourself, in most cases.

Well I meant score and performance wise. I do not get for example why so many pugs wonder off on their own and die repeatedly because of it. Or why they take no gear or consumables or do not use missiles or meds and so often prove to be more o.f a burden to a team than an asset. I do not cae a lot about the score because scores do not take everything into account but they are some measure of activity in a match. I have and even like to play with players who can not play great. That does not matter but I do like to see some effort. I like to know they try and have a little common sense.

I do not include accidents, bad/off-days, random incidental chances, challenge tasks, or other such circumstances which may alter your general ability for one or more matches in this.

Agreed.^_^

But pugging has made me a man, so I somehow thank all those useless leechers

Now I rarely engage into situations that can get me sync'd, 'cept for unnoticed banshees teleporting through walls  or the occasional sneaky silent praetorian.

I do meet some good players on pugs now and then. However, besides the lack of using consumables and consumable gear, I often see PUGS get as far away from one another as they can. In several games they did not help with objectives unless it was the 4 objective ones where they get extra points for. On one game, 2 of them were on opposite sides of the map from the escort while most of the enemies were in the middle of the map where the mission was and the other guy and I had to waste missiles trying to get it done with no help or support but I think we both gave up trying to use and waste all of our stuff while the others were doing who knows what in their private corners. Meanwhile, time was running down then finally they tried to get there albeit very late and it seemed ONE at a time only to fail miserably. I guess in a way it was quite funny to watch. Do PUGS not know that objective waves are important and failure can cost you the game? BTW, I had a lower level character so not alot of health. I was however, expecting a foreign concept to many pugs, that is TEAMWORK.

Which is my bottom line point here. I simply do not see teamwork or the spirit of the effort from most pugs I see and played with.

PUGS should remember this important checklist:

1. gear up - take bonus gear always at least because it never gets used up. And on gold or plat, it is not a waste to actually use level 3 and 4 consumable gear. If you still struggle with it, then it is a sign you should probably at least take it rather than struggle more without it. Good tip there.

2. Support your team. Never go gung ho and stray very far from all team mates. The whole point of a team is to ya know be a team and work as one. So be close enough at all times to support one another. Personal Note: I always do try to do the best I can when it comes to team work and support. If I can get to you and revive you I will, if the button works right and I do not get surrounded since in some cases the pug is in the middle of the thickest horde of enemies. LOL

3. Always keep an eye on OBJECTIVES. They are very important and you must ensure they succeed. This is more important if you struggle or get downed alot. If you fail objectives you fail the game, it is as bad as everyone DYING. So keep that in mind.

4. Always use MODS on all weapons. They are free and do benefit you and your character and game. There is no reason to not use them unless it is a personal challenge BUT, this does not include pug missions because you are working with people you do not work with usually so you need a wider margin of error to account for the lack of cohesion inherent in working with unfamiliar team mates.

5. You do not need to use that new level 1 gun if you have a better level 10 gun or some higher level gun and are more familiar with it.

6. You can be a bit more flexible on silver or bronze matches with respect to these rules but, on gold it is best to max out what you have available for the best chances and best results.

7. If you get downed frequently, do not keep going into crowds of enemies or expect your team mates can get to you.

8. USE CONSUMABLES. It is never a waste to use your meds and missiles or even ALL of your meds and missiles on a gold match. You will make enough to replenish them and then some. Do not be stingy. There is no point to Saving your meds or missiles if you can not even get through the first five waves because you refuse to use them ever even when necessary.

9. If you want great results or best results pick characters and gear that are compatible with each other in order to exploit the biggest bonuses and power combos. You can find some guides for what works best together in other posts.

10. Do not waste missiles. The best times to use them are during objective waves or if surrounded or if a team mate or two is downed and there are several enemies or one or two Boss enemies very close. Use them if you want to revive a team mate but there is a sync kill enemy close by. They may not have time to move let alone avoid a sync kill the instant they get up and it will only cause you and them more frustration and pain if you do not use it.

If you are getting downed and are not willing to use a med ever, and expect a team mate to help, be mindful. If they are also having trouble with several enemies or tough enemies such as banshees or phantoms, then they likely can not get to you or at least get to you in time. They are NOT dissing you nor are they being gung ho. Sometimes it is glitches or things beyond their control. I have had several such games in the last week or so that caused my performance to suffer a bit. However, I do try to help and support team mates and risk myself for the benefit of the team and even use consumables when needed.

If you have a level 10 weapon, you have to have some bonus gear and some weapon mods.

I typically expect more from players in this game because it actually takes skill (As opposed to every other shooter). When I go into a higher tier lobby, I expect players to be good. It really sucks having to clutch every wave because the leeches won't medigel (Not that it would make much of a difference, but I'd appreciate you TRYING to help as opposed to just "Oh well, that guy's good so I don't have to do anything.")

I lol'd at the bolded statement. You clearly don't have much shooter experience if you claim that.

Most other shooters don't really take much skill. Seriously, COD: Black Ops 2's (one of the more recent shooters, so it's a valid example) method of getting better is to unlock the Peacekeeper. Once you do that, the game takes absolutely no skill, especially if you play without tactics and just rambo everything with that Peacekeeper. By that point I had literally played for a cumulative 5 hours and I was mopping people up like crazy.

If you don't like the set up you can always kick or if their mikes are on you can ask them about it. Or just leave. Pugs seem to be more nowadays. Once during a hack my other 3 team mates were elsewhere. I just stepped out and they got the message. I had 2 pizza deliveries once and I completed the first two in a wave. The second time I didn't bother. I even soloed one wave. After all this I left the lobby... good riddance.
Getting dedicated players are hard to come by. But That does not mean I will stop playing with pugs. They need to learn the ropes and responsibilities too.

Yeah I agree. Right off the top of my head I know Battlefield takes a lot of strategy (used to love fighting with my old clan). Heck, any shooter with PvP can take tons of strategy. Maybe he's only thinking of PvE only? Even then, there is LEft 4 Dead series and other games.

This seems to happen to me half the time when i get waxed.....i was playing on gold Reapers/Dagger and it was wave 8, i got sync-killed by a banshee (to this day i still don't know how..it was a weird one) anyway long story short, after i died the group started dropping like flies.

The lone survivor was a Juggy that was trying to drain 2 banshees and 3 brutes...i didn't have a mic,...but he was clearly being overwhelmed and all he had to do was use a rocket and clear the wave...nope he wants to melee everything and gets killed 3 times...twice earlier when the other teammates was alive...Image IPB
