Well, now that Shepard's story is over, ( I guess) AND with sequel news popping up everywhere, I would like to post a wish list of sorts, containing what US, THE FANS, THE ONES PAYING THE PEOPLE AT BIOWARE/EA, would like to see in the new ME series/game! :)

NUMBER ONE:

I would like to play as MYSELF in the new game. Instead of playing as J.D. Shepard, I would like to play as J.D. Miller, like I had hoped I could when I played ME1 for the first time. The ME experience was STILL intensly immersive, even though I was playing a character that wasn't really myself. I could only imagine how much more intense all those decisions and actions would be if I actually felt like it was MY OWN NAME at stake.

ALSO, EA has used facial recognition through games like Tiger Woods PGA Tour and Fight Night. Can we please utilize that in the new Mass Effect game? I'm tired of all my custom faces looking like dump personified.

NUMBER TWO:

I would LOVE to find out if the Milky Way Galaxy is the only galaxy threatened by the Reapers. Perhaps there are some civilizations over in Andromeda getting the living intercourses smacked outta them by the Reapers as well! I would simply like to know how deep the Reaper hole goes. (See what I did there?)

NUMBER THREE: (Spinoff talks)

If Bioware really intends to make a game based around the characters we've come to love. (Who could ever forget our bromance with Garrus or Grunt) it's in their best interest to NOT SCREW IT UP. For instance, JAVIK IS THE LAST LIVING PROTHEAN. If I find out that there is a mission in which he finds ANOTHER prothean who is female and then tries reproducing with her, I'm going to burn all my Mass Effect games and memorabilia and never by EA games again. That sort of ridiculous, awful, atrocious, crappy, horrid, terrible, crappy, ridiculous, atrocious, crappy story writing is my biggest pet peeve. Just dont screw it up, capiche?

I'm not too picky after that. These are just some things I would like to see from a new ME series. I'm more interested to see what everyone else would like to see though. Post some of your wish lists below and see if we have any ideas in common!

I'd like it to happen in the past. There are so many good plots, the Geth/Quarian war, the Rachni wars, the Krogan genophage. But it would be tricky if they'd wish humans in a ME before the first contact.

Retcon ME2 and ME3. ME2 was plenty of fun but it was mostly set pieces and name dropping that connected it to the first. Make a sequel to the first and true Mass Effect. Make it episodic. Similar to what was done with Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon but all in the same universe and rough time frame. Have a central story but every now and then add parallels in other parts of the galaxy that can have affect on later episodes in the central story. One shot characters with some that are reoccurring. the main protagonist is not the only competent person in the galaxy. Nor is the main protagonist the best in every field. The side episode allow for greater focus on game mechanics or factions that are not directly a major part of the main episodes. There can also be special multi player missions. Build influence through the episode and vote/debate the choices the characters make. One player is playing paragon or renegade while another player is not. In certain situations if they have enough influence point they can successfully pull off an interrupt that other players are not expecting. The first episode is the core piece with the game engine and mechanics. On ship custimzatio options for weapons and armor would be as broad as the first Mass Effect with a long list of equipment and options for exchangeable mods that can be taken on missions and choices that have to be made before the mission. Not all weapon mods work on all weapons. The same goes for armor and other equipment. Do you take the heat clips that can run out or the overheat module that does 2/3rd damage. What about additional mods that behave differently depending on the primary mods? The additional heat sink mod would decrease the heat for overheat and would slowly regenerate the current thermal clip so the player does not have to worry about exchanging clips when they only fire a fewer rounds from a smg or assault gun(it does not have rifling). If you have to switch from a sniper gun to a close quarters weapon you don't have to worry about reloading it when you switch back. Players would have a wide range of options to fit their style. A few prototype weapons that are on the game breaking side but they are not options to purchase. They are only available in the main story if the right choices are made in the side stories.

I think they should make Mass Effect 4 as real Mass Effect 3 bad dream that did never happen. no3 was worst part of the series from the start to ending just stupid shooter with no mystery. they should make 3 as a sum of all places we visit in 1 and 2 + some extra places to search for ancients who created reapers

It would be great to be able to choose what race the protagonist is. I would love to be an Asari or Krogan. I guess it would take quite a lot of work with the voice acting but it would still be cool.

My wishlist:

NO PREQUEL. ANYTHING BUT A PREQUEL. Lol, now seriously though, I really don't like prequels, they make everything feel so scripted and forced because 1: Bioware can't suddenly create whole new events because then we have the question of why didn't we heard of them in the first three games? 2: Can't really let players have their own will because those event's must have some kind of scripted outcome because it has to connect with Mass Effect 1 and can't really have special or dramatic plottwists. And 3: because all the big event's are almost all already told about in great detail in the three original games, which practically means that we already know what is going to happen.

Please, make a near future sequel, pick a canon (destroy would be the easiest but it can theoretically be any of the endings) and go on from there, you can't please everyone anyway and with this you can still create your own story with plottwists and new things to be told while not completely distancing so much from the original trilogy that you could just as much have made a new IP.

Apart from that, I would really like to see the normandy make some kind of return. The people might be gone, but maybe we could still see the normandy as a museum exhibit or something? (imagine the pure awesomeness of having to start te normandy up again because you have to flee and the museum is under attack)

and last but not least, I would like to see a hub on earth. It always seemed strange to me that we practically never really have seen earth in mass effect.

I agree with the post above. I would find an prequel just dumb. Well, kind of defends what it's about. If it's just generally about everything that happened pre-ME1 it'd be annoying to play since we probably wouldn't have the same level of freedom.

I would be perfectly happy with them going Destroy as the canon and continuing from that. Maybe we could find some references to Liara and Wrex still being alive, for fanservice or whatever. Overall, I don't really mind what they do. I enjoyed ME3 (granted the previous ones were better in my opinion) and I'll probably enjoy ME4.

I'd like to be able to choose the race of my character, though. Maybe go with Humans, Turians and Asari.
Salarians would be awesome, too, but as far as I know, we've never seen an female Salarian. Plus I remember someone mentioning that the female Salarians aren't allowed into the military.

Another thing I'd like to see is more weapons; we've got an Human set of weapons (more like 2?) but I don't think we've got a full set of any other guns. Where's the Asari assault rifle, or Turian pistol?

For squad mates, I'd like to see something we've never had before; maybe an Salarian STG soldier? I remember how they looked like in Mass Effect 1. Man, did I want one of those helmets :P
And who knows, maybe we could also get an Vorcha to join our squad. At least the dialogue would be hilarious.

1. Choose a race at the beginning.
2. Take control of companions (much like in Dragon Age).
3. NO PREQUEL! I would like to see the 4th game set after the 3rd. Maybe it takes place a year or two after the events of the third and it deals with the aftermath of the Reaper war.
4. This one goes with the race option, but allow a wider backstory, for example, have a backstory where your the son/daughter of a farmer or have one who is a recruit in the army or something.
5. More Dead Spaceships! One of the things I liked about ME 1 was the ships that were just floating about. I want to explore more of these, see what gems I can find.
6. Better armor. I felt that the armor was very limited in the first two games (I haven't yet played the 3rd, so I don't know what that's like) but I would like to have the chance to upgrade my armor for better speed, or better accuracy.
7. More worlds to explore. Much like in ME1, I want to explore entire worlds, maybe even find lost tribes or so. Or a new species of alien. Something like that would be pretty fun.

1) Better character creation (more hair styles, customization options, better face textures)
2) More control over character background
3) More explorability
4) More weapon types
5) Good PC voice acting from the start of the series
6) More interactions in relationships with squadmates, whether friends or LI's.

Some news site posed the question - if you had to pick someone else to take the lead role in ME4 who would it be.

If I had to choose from characters we already know, for me it would have to be Legion.  I suppose by extention that means that I would like the game to be focused on the Geth, or rather be told from the Geth point of view.

Granted this sounds more like a spinoff than an brand new storyline, but there was something about Legion that made me want to know more about him.  Given that the main underlying conflict in Mass Effect is man vs. machine, it would be interested to approach the same conflict from the machine's point of view but on a more personal level.

I realize that it may be very difficult to fit Legion into a typical ME interaction model, given that by default everyone mistrusts or even hates the Geth, as well the fact that prior to crossing paths with Sheppard Legion was a loner - but there's just so much about him that I would love to see more of.  His past, how he came to be isolated from the rest and decide to wear Sheppard's old armor, the Geth's ongoing struggle to survive as a species and coexist with the rest of the galaxy.

I'd like to see a post-ME3 game as well. With the mass relays destroyed, alien & human colnies both will be isolated and are probably going to be in a state of fending for themselves.
Not sure how they'd handle space travel other than interplanetary so unless the game provides for the relays having been rebuilt, or an alternative interstellar means found, I'm not sure what they could do .

In any event, definitely include the chance to play as an alien. having built in special abilities opens new gameplay options in a way Dungeons & Dragons (or related games) does when you pick a race.

1. Hope it feels like a Mass Effect game, kinda obvious but still, the atmosphere is a big deal.
I want to see the same races + more, rather than everything is new.
2. Totally agree with Joshmalandro about playing as another race, pretty sure lots of people liked that in mp. So make it possible in sp to! :)
3. Good mp is another thing, liked it alot in ME3, so I hope they evolve it and make it great.
4. Keep the Geth, they're awesome! "Shepard commander"

I'd like you to be able to be whoever you want to be. Maybe I don't want to be Alliance Commander Shepard of the Normandy.

Like you choose a character from multiple races, customize/name them, and choose a ship. From there you can do all kinds of missions. You can join the Alliance, do N7 missions; rank up in the Citadel, become a Spectre; or join the Blue Suns, rule the Terminus systems, and fight the Alliance/Council; become a Bounty Hunter/Mercenary, taking on odd jobs and assassinations throughout the galaxy; help the Geth fight the Quarians, or the Quarians defeat the Geth; stop/cause a Turian-Krogan war, advance in that plot.

But Mass Effect is a story-centric game, and one that I'd want would not really follow suit.

Skyrim-Mass Effect... something like that.

EDIT:  I also would REALLY like the next ME to focus on the criminal underworld, we saw a lot of it in ME2.  The atmoosphere, history, and tone of Omega was awesome, and I like the idea of bounty hunters, mercenaries, gangsters, slavers, and thugs.  I like C-Sec stuff to, especially when it deals with criminals.  I want to see more of that, more night clubs, more mercenaries, more slaves, more drugs, more violence, brutality, and the hsheer bleakness and hopelessness you get on Omega.
