The fact that it's digital only is a huge bummer.

I'm gonna get it but not until i've played soul hackers and devil survivor overclocked. I would have played them already if they weren't so ****** expensive.

I love you.

Why the wait until you've played the other two games?

They came out first so the mechanics will be more dated. Going back from good mechanics to much worse would be a massive pain.

I find the mechanics in soul hackers and DeSU Overclocked better.

Shin Megami Tensei's mechanics haven't exactly aged, considering a majority of them play exactly the same. Well older ones do have FPS dungeons compared to SMT IV moving in 3rd person like Nocturne. SMT IV plays exactly like Soul Hackers with a few additions/changes that don't really make it noticeably superior to its 1997 brethren.

I haven't finished either of them but so far Soul Hackers has actually been the more enjoyable experience. Although I think the art design and time period probably contributes heavily to my increased interest. Soul Hackers feels cyberpunk inspired while SMT IV feels a bit more traditional fantasy inspired.

I suppose one thing you might not like in Soul Hackers is the fact that demons actively in your party use up a sort of currency to live as you move around dungeons. That can make it feel a bit more difficult but I don't think it's necessarily dated.

Really except for the story, Nocturne did everything better over SMTIV.
