Honestly speaking, I've fallen outside the normal time-space continuum - something that almost never happens nowadays (well past my most active gaming years). It's just that good.
I can imagine the challenge of ME3. The responsibility must feel crushing. Although I have no doubt that they will deliver. I just hope I can still play it, two years from now...

It deserves every bit of that praise.

Mass effect 3 can receive just as much praise if :
It's the perfect mix of gameplay and roleplay/rpg.
Part 1 created this great universe and the basic foundation for greatness was there...
Part 2 finally proved that Bioware can finally create a game with great gameplay
Part 3 should be this perfect mix of great gameplay and great rpg, since they already have the gameplay part right.Since we know Bioware can easily do the rpg part,ME 3 should be in business.

Seriously, by scores alone, it takes GTA IV to beat ME2. That just won't happen.
Oh, but of course, Gamespot will probably try to look different and give it to some game almost no one played. Since many reviewers have their own... quirks, I think it's safe to judge by metascore.
Hmm. I don't think it can "easily do the RPG part". Creative process can be hard, especially when you've got this to live up to. They do have an overarching storyline planned, of course, but it's the details that really matter. And besides... it's the conclusion of a massive trilogy. It's got to leave people breathless - at the very least.spernus wrote...

But they have proven that they can make a major step forward, and deliver a mindblowing sequel (I feel that they're kind of making up for not developing KOTOR2...
I'm just wondering where they'll take it next from the technical/gameplay perspective. It's clear that they won't stop refining the system, but the question is - will they drastically change it again?

They throw relatively major spoilers in there and act as though it's not a big deal. It's not game ruining, but it tells you who you won't be fighting at the end and some other things that shouldn't be discussed.
It's like they're tying to ruin the game by process of elimination... boo, hiss!

10/10 is not a perfect score. It's just an indication that their scoring system isn't flexible enough. Also, games can be perfect, just not objectively. I have played many perfect games. They were perfect for me.
A great example of someone who gets it. Congratulations for understanding what gaming is all about. This means you win as a consumer!

In other words, you can't take review scores as an attempt at a perfectly objective ranking, because we're dealing with a medium that will always, always, always be subjective at best. Such a system could only work if it were possible to predict with near-perfect accuracy what future games would be like (or perhaps deprecate old game scores, in light of new achievements). It's sort of like going "Well, Y movie is good, but it's not as good as X movie that's coming out two years from now, as I can tell by my crystal ball here". Pretty absurd, all things considered.

Just waiting for GameCentral to do a review - they are notoriously harsh. I doubt it'll get above an 8.

While I have no doubt the story will be magnificent in the end, I am terribly, terribly disappointed that what few RPG elements were in ME1 have been stripped away. Bioware, you've always been ahead of the power curve and you've been successful in innovation and in being different and standing out. Don't try to do what everyone else is doing. At some point, you'll fit right in with everyone else and you won't stand out at all and gaming will have lost something. That's my piece.

Is this a thread for player reviews? If not, I didn't see a better place for it. Just wanted to add my voice, feeble as it is.
