If you turn them all into 100 scale you have 4 100 reviews, one 98 review, one 96, one 95, one 93, one 91, 3 90 reviews and a 88 review.

Add those all up you get 1231, then divide that by 13 the total scored reviews and you have 94.69, so I rounded to 94.7, did I miss something?

then you can round up 94.7 to 95, which you can round up to 100. So basically... this game is the **** even though i havn't played it yet.

I read that too, was a little suprised, many say that despite the whole save the world epic scope the first had the charecters make up for it, but he still gave it a 9 anyway.

Perhaps the reviewer isn't much of a gamer who enjoys good stories/characters from games

Well I think charecters only ever have as much as you put into them, so he may have just not put much into playing with them as he should have.

That review is so full of bull i cant even begin to tell, the characters are great and the story keeps you on. Collectors seem pretty scary when you see them, coupled that on higher difficulties they can take you squad down pretty fast.

Kind of getting sick of these "to many throwbacks to mass effect 1" comments, because you KNOW, if they didn't incorporate enough of Mass Effect 1 into it people would whine about THAT. You just can't win.

Edit: I can translate the Pros and Cons.

Pros: Unmatched storytelling, lovely soundtrack, wonderful choice of characters, intensive and varied battles.

Cons: Loading is long (I've played the PC version and I did not experience long loading times)

No. That's Tom Chick. He's into difficult battle scenarios (strategies), and he's more of a RTS fan based on what he's written in old Computer Gaming World Magazines. I think he felt properly challenged by Dragon Age. I get the feeling that's not the case with Mass Effect 2 (but I won't know for sure until I read his review). He has a reputation for not always agreeing with the masses.

"It's [Mass Effect 2] long on fan service and short on gameplay". So I suspect he feels there's not enough interesting battles to keep him entertained.

Different strokes for different folks

I come from an adventure gaming background, so I'll play practically anything and have fun as long as the story is decent, which is why I can't stand most Bethseda games (one exception being Fallout 3 only because the game's environment interested me more than the story did). Open-world, sandbox roaming is not something I care about, in particular when the main storyline bores me to tears. Some people love sandbox RPGs developed by Bethseda.

People complained that Mass Effect was dumbed down for console players, table-top dice-rolling aspects have been removed (now the player can still win a battle even if a weapon in untrained, provided the gamer can aim really well), etc. I don't care about that stuff as long as the story entertains me. I had a lot of fun playing Mass Effect. I expect I'll have a blast playing Mass Effect 2.

People play games for different reasons and are entertained for different reasons.
